"You've got to be kidding, right? I don't do body guard work let alone hang around other people I don't know." Kaine grumbled under his breath as he drove his spider bicycle through New York City wearing his red and black uniform. By now most people recognized him as a hero at this point. He had done some bad work when he was still young and figuring out his life, but with a help of some of his friends and some good choices he managed to turn himself around. Kaine's attitude towards somethings and his personality hadn't changed all that much, he was still rough, tough and acted like a loner.
He soon came over to a public bathroom before putting regular clothing on since he figured he was better off meeting this person face to face. And if they wanted to know about Scarlet Spider that was fine by him. "This isn't going to go well I know that without my spidey sense." Kaine added before putting a long hodded jacket on, since the last few days were cold. Once he was ready he headed towards the high school that Lila had been going at as he parked his bike in the parking lot at the front of the school.
Come to think of it, Kaine hadn't been to a high school before, he hadn't had much schooling experience besides what the Riley's had taught him. They taught him how to read and write, and he was thankful that they had done so much in his young life before. Kaine had ever bothered with going to college or even going to high school since Oscorp had taken over his life and held him prisoner. Maybe one day he'd fret about those things, but not right now. SHIELD was giving him a decent job as a Web Warrior and part time teacher and that was fine for him. "Well there's the bell any minute now-" He was cut off as he heard the sound of footsteps coming out as students came racing out of school, one hit him in the shoulder almost knocking him over and the bike, "Watch where you're going!" He said but by then the kid disappeared in the crowd and he hadn't expected that.
Still he waited patiently for the girl to come out, her name was Lila Barton and that was just about all he knew about her. He took off his sunglasses a bit reluctantly as they revealed a scar on his face that went through his eye vertically, it had healed over the years, but you could still see it. He had a feeling that some people were staring. At least he remembered what Katherine had said, Scars were cool and he hoped that was the case here. It also showed that he had been through some tough times in the past and lived to tell the tales. However before this, he had always thought he was a freak or had some kind of curse.
Lila rested her head on her desk as she watched the clock instead of listening to her history teacher go on about the the Boston tea party. The reason why she was paying more attention to the clock was because she was counting down intill the end of school. However time seemed to be moving slowly to Lila as watched that clock. Lila finally got bored of resting her head on her desk. Lila raised back up in her seat and stopped resting her head on her desk. This time she just went head and started doodling in her note book.
During the middle of her doodling Lila would hear her name be called by the teacher but before the teacher could ask her question with luck on Lila's side the school bell ringed before she would have to answer the teacher's question. Lila quickly got up from her desk and threw her history textbook and note book into backpack. She then zipped up her backpack and threw it over one shoulder and walked out of the class room.
As she walked down the hallway at a fast pace Lila felt a rush of excitement as she was ready for how she going to be spending the rest of her day. Lila was looking forward to spending the rest of her Friday in the big city but it wasn't just any city that she would be visiting. Lila was going to be going to New York City and taking in the sights an sounds. She even planed on doing a little shopping.
With all the thoughts of the trip that she had planed on taking Lila didn't notice that she was standing outside of her school on the grass just staring off into space. When she took notice of the fact that she was outside she laugh a little at her self and a big grin on her face as she noticed how silly she was being.
"Lila girl you got pay more attention to where your going or your going to get yourself lost one day." Lila said to her self.
Now that Lila was back down to earth she then started looking out at the parking looking to see if she could spot the family pickup truck. When she didn't see the pick up Lila got a confused look on her face because before she had left the house that morning Lila had been told by her mom that some one would be picking her up after school. I don't see the truck.Could they be late? Who was to be picking up in the first place? Is it my dad or Auntie Nate? Well I guess I have to text mom an find out, Lila thought.
As Lila mind raced with questions she pulled out her cellphone and started to text her mom.

Some kids stayed behind as they were waiting to be picked up by their parents and the rest filed in line on their buses. Minutes ticked by and soon those minutes turned in ten, twenty and it was starting to make him a bit worried that this girl may have decided to take some other way home by now. So far he hadn't seen her, nor really knew what she looked like.
Kaine looked through some of the kids trying to figure out which one was Lila but so far he hadn't been able to figure it out, or they didn't seem to be it at all. He walked passed them with a bag of his things on his shoulder that went down to his waste that had his valuable Scarlet Spider suit in it. Before he saw a young teen, about 15 years old standing as she was waiting for someone to pick her up. He knew this might end badly as he pulled some identification out of his pocket, they still believed in not talking to strangers right?
"Are you Lila Barton?" He asked her. "I'm here on behalf of SHIELD I got assigned to be your bodyguard for a few weeks. My name is Kaine Riley I work under a branch of the SHIELD group and have been so for several years now." Kaine explained as he let her observe his card if she wanted to. It showed a similar picture that had been taken of him within the year and it also had his code name on it too which some people may have heard of. As it had his signature and as well as Scarlet Spider underneath it along with the SHIELD insignia to show that he really meant it.
"And yes before you ask I do have powers, but I'd rather not talk about it in such a public place, you know the whole 'secret identity thing.'" Kaine added knowing the young girl probably had lots of questions. Quite frankly he wasn't sure if he could answer half of them. Usually SHIELD was all business and ask questions later. Perhaps there was a big reason why he was sent out to protect Lila, Kaine figured that the one main reason was she had been related to the Bartons. If anyone wanted to try and hurt Hawkeye on the job they could've harmed their familiy and done some damage that way. That was one reason why Kaine hadn't made his identity public, it was mostly hidden under SHIELD anyways. But he figured his code name could probably give away what type of super hero he was, and he had spider powers.
Lila who had been working on writing a text message heard someone walk up to her. Lila looked up from her from phone to see that a older looking man and then the older man started talking to her.She had her guard up and at first she was reluctant to talk to him but when he showed his shield badge and I .D. card . After getting a good look at them a lot of questions did go an run threw Lila's head.
As her questions ran threw head Lila also had got a worried look on her face and starting to freak out a little bit. "Did something happen? Is daddy okay? Is mama okay? What about my big brothers and Lucky okay? Why do I need a body guard?"asked Lila.
Lila looked at Kaine waiting for answers to her questions and it was quite obvious that she was not moving from the spot where she was standing intill she got her answers. Since she was still kind of freaking a little bit still so the teenager was getting impatient."I'm sorry Mr.Riley but I'm not going anywhere in till I know if my family is okay."said Lila.

Kaine figured gaining the kid's trust was hard, when he was still figuring himself out he had lack of trust and still sorta did for higher up authorities or even older people out there. Which was why he was still a loner to this day that part of his personality hadn't changed all this much. He fumbled around trying to think of something to say and he knew this would be hard. He did recall on the messages that he had gotten from SHIELD that Hawkeye had been alright and so was her mom, except who was lucky? A pet of some kind? SHIELD probably assigned him as a body guard for extra safety since they could afford it now with the increase in members and the Web Warriors hadn't been doing a whole lot lately so they were open for just about anything.
"Well kid from what I heard on the transmission your family is alright and safe, they probably assigned us for extra security right now my own group has been sitting idly waiting for instructions on what to do next and I got assigned this job." Kaine said as he wondered if that was enough to convince her. "I know trust is probably low and everything but I have no choice but to do this. Normally I stay out of sight and mind my own business I'm a loner and I can't help that side." Kaine admitted knowing he always felt uncomfortable in crowds.
He had a feeling that this wouldn't cut it and not end well as the girl would possibly start crying. He looked back at his bike wondering if it was better to transfer the messages and let her listen to them. "I've got an idea how about you listen to the messages that I got would that be enough proof?" He asked as he took out his own phone that he had gotten from SHIELD as he found the recorded messages and began to play them for her. Someone else's voice came on the line that was the representative SHIELD member that he had spoken too earlier before he arrived, "Mr. Riley you need to go to the down town area to seek out a civilian named Lila Barton, her father is Clint Barton aka Hawkeye who is currently doing under cover work for us. Her family is fine but we are taking every precaution necessary. Use your powers only when necessary as Scarlet Spider or when trying to protect the girl. This is agent Carter signing off from the SHIELD department assigning you to the mission number 2253 code name Scarlet Spider." The voice sounded almost military like as Kaine played the tape he had met the SHIELD agent a few times while working there and hoped that it was enough for Lila to understand what was going on.
"Well does that explain it?" Kaine asked sounding a bit hopeful that this may end well with the voice but then again it may go totally down hill. Though Kaine couldn't help but wonder why SHIELD always had to have a tangled web, usually that was his own fault.
Lila took a deep breath an calmed down after hearing the message that Kaine had played for her. " I'm glad they are okay. I'm sorry for freaking out on ya like that."said Lila. After she got done talking Lila at the different cars in the school parking lot and wondering which of the cars could be his. "So which car is yours and will you need me to tell how to get to the farm?asked Lila.
Lila who just remembered that she had been holding her phone this whole time. So she put her phone back into jean pocket. After she got doing that she then decide to ask one more quick question."Where you the one that my mom had talk about this morning being the one to pick me up from school?" Lila asked.
As she stood there waiting Lila started to think back to the morning when she had been talking to her mother. She now wondering if she and mom now had to cancel their plans to go to the city. She was making a mental not to herself to talk to her mom when got home.

"Well actually I drive a motorcycle, I do have a license for driving a car, but SHIELD offered the motorcycle as a faster way of getting around." Kaine admitted. "If you don't like driving motorcycles I can get a cab for the both of us, and yeah I do need some directions." He explained as he pointed over towards the red and black motorcycle. He had driven it for some time and on occasions it got caught up in what he was doing with his heroism moments. Luckily it had never been fully dismantled and he was sure SHIELD would have some yelling in store for him for destroying their hard work on it.
"And it was likely that your mom knew I was coming SHIELD is good at communication." He said with a sigh. "And you're forgiven I've always had a lack of trust towards people sometimes due to my past but I have gotten better with it over time." Kaine explained. He seemed quite dodgy on the moment of his past. Lila probably will never be ready to hear it, nor did he want to tell her about it, since it was a violent one. He had only gotten around to telling his girlfriend, Katherine about it since he felt like he could trust her with it and SHIELD only knew so much. The fact that he found out only recently that he was a clone of Spider-Man bothered him to this day and then they threw him away like a peace of trash. Some how, Kaine had wanted to live and that will of his was probably what pulled him through in the end.
As Kaine looked around he couldn't help but notice how awkward things had gotten between the two of them as he began to head towards his motorcycle in case Lila did want to ride it or not. He couldn't help but spot a butterfly in the brush as he pointed a hand towards it to let her see it, "Go over to her." He said in a soft whisper towards the butterfly and almost on command, it listened. One of Kaine's abilities was to talk to insects almost as if they were humans. The butterfly flapped its delicate wings, once it got enough of a drink from the flower it had perched on and then flew over towards Lila and hovered over towards the girl. "If you're curious on who I am, my powers are similar to Spider-Man. Yet I have a variety of powers he doesn't have, I see him on a regular basis since he comes to SHIELD a lot." Kaine explained. Still he considered his own powers to be a curse in more ways than one.
Lila listened as Kaine talked when he pointed out the motorcycle, she looked over at. Then when he said that he could call a taxi instead if she was to scared to ride. However Lila wasn't all that scared of the bike in fact to her it seemed like it would be a fun way home."You don't have to call a taxi, I thinking ride the motorcycle would be a much more fun way home then taking a bus."said Lila
When Lila was about to say a response to the of her mom knowing about the fact Kaine was being the one to pick her up but however she got distracted when saw that Kaine was talking to a butterfly and giving the butterfly orders to come over to her. Lila watched in child like wonder as the butterfly flew near her and landed on her shoulder. While she was still looking at the butterfly, Lila still did listen as Kaine spoke about his powers and spider-man.
"Don't get me wrong it's pretty cool that ya hang with Spider-Man but it's much more cooler that you can talk to butterflies. So can you talk to other animals like Dr. DooLittle from the movies?"asked Lila.

"Alright then, we'll use the motorcycle." Kaine said as he paused to watch Lila as she enjoyed the butterfly being with her. It sure wasn't a shy creature, in fact he thought it liked the attention that was given to it. He could only wonder about such delicate creatures and how they managed to survive. Spiders had been around for thousands of years and perhaps that was the same with butterflies also.
Kaine shook his head he at least had heard about the movie, "Nope just insects, I think the connection is more around spiders with that too, since I can talk to them a lot easier." Kaine admitted since he didn't really know that much about his insect power, in fact he didn't know much about his Mark of Kaine power either. Perhaps it was better if he didn't know about it. The more mysteries and questions he looked into the more complicated things got. "Alright then we'll take the motorcycle, I have an extra helmet for you, since they require those around here." Kaine said as he walked over towards the motorcycle and opened one of the storage areas in the seat area and took out an extra helmet for Lila to make sure she was safe on the travel. Kaine soon boarded the motorcycle as he started it up and it let out a sharp revving noise as the engine was on and it was ready for travel back to Lila's house. It looked like he was going to be spending the evening there too.
"Well going back to Spider-Man we've had a lot of problems in the past with fighting and arguing, we've got different personalities which doesn't always help some missions. He was kind of goofy and not so serious at first, I was the serious tough and rough guy..and still kind of am." Kaine said with a sigh knowing his personality hadn't changed all that much but he had learned to trust a few. It might just take time with him and Lila to get to know each other. "Oh yeah I am going to need the directions soon to get to your house, never been to it before." He added.
Lila put on the extra helmet that Kaine gave her. Then she went to get on the back of the bike. At first she had some trouble getting onto the bike, after a few moments she was soon sitting on the back of the bike. "You know by the way you say you and spider-man act with one other sounds lot like me and my big brothers and also fair warning this is my first time on a motorcycle so if I like flip out or something I'm sorry. "said Lila.
Lila then took a deep breath."I'm ready to go when you are but I hope it's okay that I'll just point out the way as we go long."said Lila.
As Lila waited for them to get moving she took a other deep breath and forced herself to relax. It will be find, this is a lot more fun then taking a bus, Lila thought to herself.

"You're lucky you've got brothers, I was by myself for most of my life, my parents died when I was young..." He started to trail off. "Maybe it's better if I don't tell you. My story isn't exactly a walk through a field of flowers." Kaine said as he felt himself gripping the handle bars of the bike as he thought about his past. Each time he dug a little deeper he found more questions than answers. And he nodded as he listened to Lila about pointing the way this shouldn't be too bad.
As far as directions went, Kaine followed them pretty well. They were slowly leaving the city and the neighborhoods turned more into wooded areas. It almost reminded him of where his girlfriend Werecat lived, the X institute was way out in the middle of no where and this seemed no different. However he could tell right off the bat that this girl didn't have powers, and perhaps that was another reason why SHIELD asked him to watch her and be the body guard. Finally after a long slow ride they made it to the house and he stopped at a nearby tree as he took off his helmet finding the home where Lila and her family lived. He felt out of place here. "This is where you live?" He asked.
"It's nothing...it's just something that I'll have to get used to." Kaine explained knowing Lila was probably shocked by this. "I'm used to living out in the city with the concrete walls and buildings." Kaine said as he got off the motorcycle but still held it for Lila so she could get off next. His Scarlet Spider suit was still in his bag as he knew at some point she'd have to see that side of him. He knew that she would see it at some point, and would then she consider him a monster like others did? He couldn't help but wonder that part. "Well I guess you know this place better than I do, you can lead the way." He said looking around already making mental notes of where he could hang in the trees in case he had to ambush someone he could climb these trees easily. So far though everything seemed about normal and his spidey sense hadn't gone off or anything. That was a good sign.
Ooc: Going to do a little time skip to the Barton farm if that's alright!
Lila laughed at Kaine reaction to her home. As she was laughing Lila took off the helmet, when she took the helmet off a grin could be seen on her face. "I could tease you but I think I'll be nice since it's your first on a farm. But anyhow what do I do with the helmet?" asked Lila as she got off the bike.
Now that Lila was off the bike she placed the helmet onto the seat of the bike instead of waiting on a answer from Kaine. Lila was walked up the dirt patched drive way up to the front porch. As soon as Lila walked up the steps of her porch she was greeted by a loud bark.
Lila kneeled down and started rubbing the belly of the dog that had barked at her. The dog that had barked at her had blonde fur and floppy ears."Hi Lucky,Did you have a good day? Are you being being a good boy? Yeah you a good boy."said Lila to the dog. After a few more moments Lila soon got up from kneeling and petting the dog.
Lila then turned her attention to the front door and took notice of a letter taped to it. Lila pulled the letter off the screen door and was reading it. She read from the letter that been a change in mom and her plans. She also learned that her mom was at a PTA meeting that was for the up coming bake sale and her brother are out and it would be up to her to show their guest where the guest room was that he would be staying in. After she got done reading Lila folded up the letter and placed it into her pocket.
After she had placed the letter into pocket she the got key chain that she on her belt loop. This key chain had her house key on it. She then opened the screen door and then unlocked the front door. Lila let the dog Lucky into the house and before she walked into the house her self she turned around and looked at Kaine."Hurry up slowpoke"yelled Lila.
After yelling Lila then went into her house letting the screen door shut behind her. Once inside the house Lila placed her keys onto the table by the door and she walked into the living room part of her house and dropped her backpack right next to the couch and then she flopped down onto the couch and then took of her chucks and placed her feet onto the coffee table and Lucky the dog jumped onto the couch beside and rested his head on her lap.

"Yeah I've lived in the city all my life, so this is certainly different." Kaine agreed, though he was used to the teasing now he got various forms of it through teaching or even with the Web Warriors and shrugged a bit.. "And you can put the helmet on the bike I'll put it in storage." He added and he took his own helmet off before putting the two away in the backseat where they had been resting on the bike. He also had his own things in a duffel back as he swung it around his shoulder. He followed Lila up to the house noticing that they weren't alone as he heard the dog bark, he remembered hearing Lila mention and asking if Lucky was alright, and from the looks of it he was.
It looked like their was a note left for Lila to read about from her mother, though he didn't pry he waited patiently as she ready. "Sorry about that, I guess I'm just taking everything in. It sure is different around here." He added as he heard Lila call him a slow poke and he came through the door and closed it behind them so it wouldn't let in any unwanted insects or drafts of air. It had a calm feeling compared to the busy life in New York City however if he didn't want to see what was going on outside he usually shut the blines. Kaine had also brought his own work to do from schooling the younger SHIELD trainees, he always had been swamped with that work as he sat in a chair not far from where Lila was as he had his own phone in his pocket. He felt also that there was a bit of awkwardness between them since he wasn't sure what to say at this point, suppose a bit of small talk helped too.
"You've got a nice house, by the way it's a lot bigger than my apartment is with just three rooms and such." He said as he took his bag off. "But don't worry too much about me being around, I'm pretty independent and I can usually tell when there's danger from my spidey sense." He said wondering if he'd have to try and explain it towards Lila since it was something that you couldn't see or touch you mostly felt it in your head as a sharp tingle. Sometimes it even woke him up from a deep sleep in the middle of the night since something bad was going on outside once or twice.
"So what do you want to do while we're here? I still feel a bit out of place to be honest." He said holding onto his bag a bit out of instinct. It had various items like a change of clothing that he had, his student papers to grade if there was down time and also his scarlet spider suit. He never left the house without it as far as he was concerned.
Lila listened as Kaine spoke to her and she took in the things he said." Yeah it's a nice house, Dad did lot of the work on the place while mom did the picking of paint and the furniture. but the bad part is when dad does a lot home projects they take him a while to get it done."said Lila. After saying that Lila soon became quite and let out a sigh. Then she got back to talking.
"So do like living in the big city? Also you where right about my mom knowing that you would be coming here so she left me orders to show ya to the guest room but please remember you are more then welcome to sleep in the barn if ya so you can write messages with your web powers. But I can you show where those are later. Since you are letting me choose what we do, I wanna hear about how you can sense danger."said Lila.
As Lila waited for Kaine to speak she pulled her backpack that she had placed beside the couch earlier pulled it over to her and she then took her feet off the coffee table and went to lean forward and this cause the golden dog to move and rest his head on a throw pillow instead.
Lila opened her backpack and pulled out a hard cover pink sketch book and a bright yellow pencil bag with pokemon on it. Lila then opened the sketch book to a page and unziped the pencil bag and pulled out a pencil and started to draw.
Post by Kaine Riley-Parker on Aug 2, 2017 0:55:53 GMT
Kaine nodded, "They did a good job with the house, Lila I can tell it's been well built and everything is kept up to date." He added. "I'll sleep in the house if that's alright but if it gets too noisy sometimes I'll stay in the barn." He said hoping that Lila would understand his reasoning for that. He did notice the silence between them as they spoke as he too wondered if they could keep going or talking about things here.
Lila began to ask questions which he wasn't totally surprised of, they were mostly strangers, and they only met through SHIELD. Maybe Lila might've seen him on the street as Scarlet Spider but it's hard to say at this point. "Yeah I like living in the City there's a lot to do there if you're bored or you simply want to hide in plain sight you can." He added responding to that question but she once again asked about his Spidey sense, he would try his best to explain it, perhaps Peter had a better explanation without using complicated science words.
"Well there's an area on the back of my brain where it rests, it alerts me if there is danger in the area that I'm in and sometimes it can be really hard or really soft depending on how bad the danger is. It's sort of like an early warning system that alerts me of what is nearby. I know one time it woke me up in a deep sleep that something bad was about to happen. It's like a tingle in the back of your head that you can feel." Kaine explained. "Which is good since I will usually know about danger before the danger knows that I'm in the area." Kaine explained. "I hope that is a good explination, if that's alright." He looked down noticing that Lila was sketching, that was some ability that he didn't have.
"I have other powers, one of which you've already seen like talking to insects." He added figuring Lila might want to know more about them. "I can use webbing like Spider-Man, a healing factor where most injuries are usually cured relatively fast, and also two stingers." He said a bit hesitant that she might not like some of his powers. He didn't mention the Mark of Kaine, that one was simply too deadly. Focusing hard he felt his skin rip a bit right around his wrists and then they appeared, he thought for sure that they would scare her or the dog would be startled as the sharp and several inches long. However they did prove to be valuable weapons in combat, even deadly.
