For some odd reason Canada sure felt like home as she walked through a small town out in the country and she wasn't even sure of the name. Regardless it didn't really matter to Rina what it was, she was just glad to be away from New York for a short time. As she walked silently she was fixed in a thinking like pose as she was tracking something nearby. Apparently she had heard some of the townsfolk that they were having difficulties with nearby wolves that were harming the live stock and eating them freely due to the lack of food that was in this time of the year. That was unfortunate, but Rina was hopeful that she could track down the wolves to figure out if this was true or not.
Footprints were left in the mud as she walked and she could see some of them looked canine. A scent was fresh as it was left there by the wolves as they walked down the path in hopes of getting away. It looked like they were running from how far the prints were. "Getting closer." She said to herself sofly as the young woman made her way forward through the pine forest. There were so many pine trees here that it was hard to say exactly how many there were. But she knew this place seemed to have a very ancient feel about things here.
"But I hope I"m not too late, those wolves might be long gone by now." Rina sighed hoping it wasn't true. However she had to trust her powers and trust what her father taught her. Though she wondered if she'd see Wolverine out this way. Often times her father wanted to be alone in Canada. But it never once occured to her that she might run into one of his other kin while she was out there. That would've been a shock to the system for her for sure. However as Rina made her way forward through the pine forest she heard a noise nearby. With instinct kicking in she let her psychic claws come out, and hoped whoever this was who was coming was friendly, "Show yourself I'm not playing games here!" She said in a demanding tone as she pulled her black hair back out of her face.
Someone else was likewise taking a chance to get away from New York, having felt so out of place in the Concrete Jungle that sometimes finding even a small place of wilderness was of some comfort. Becka, the daughter of Storm and Black Panther, had decided to take a short leave of absence from Avengers Tower to get away in the nearest place of wilderness which happened to be Canada. It was a little tricky getting across the border but she had and from there just took off in a random direction, needing to have the fresh air and feeling the soft ground beneath her feet.
The fresh air, the smell of the pines, the scent of wild life, it all was of comfort and feeling of home for the likes of Becka. It was not the Savage Land but it was still better than the noise and smells of the city that made her cringe every time she went outside, sometimes annoying her to the point she had to find a place to calm herself before her Savage side came out without her wanting it to. Sadly, it tended to do that and this trip seemed like a good way to calm her growing nerves as she raced through the pine covered area, occasionally jumping over rocks, climbing some trees, or dodging around other obstacles, feeling free for the first time in a while.
By the time she was approaching Rina, Becka had moved to using the lower, thicker branches to move along on, having scent the wolves a little while back. But when she landed, it seemed the noise had disturbed someone and Rina's voice made her freeze where she was. The last thing she had expected was someone else to be out here, her heart racing as she contemplated what to do. It was another female, young from the sounds of it but at the same time it seemed they were on edge, perhaps expecting an attack like the young mutant girl was herself. After a minute or so, she decided to take the risk and jumped across a few more branches until she was just above Rina, carefully balancing on the branch and crouched there in her uniform, but the first thing she noticed were the psi-claws Rina had, "You're a mutant." Becka said with surprise, finally jumping down.
But upon closer look she couldn't helps seeing a resemblance to one hero her mother had told her about and shown pictures of, "Is looking like Wolverine a fashion statement for young mutants now?" She inquired curiously, seeming to forget about the hostile way Rina had spoken.
"Excuse me?" The teen said with surprise as she was nearly jumped by Becka. She thought she heard something nearby as she saw Becka jump down from one of the trees. In the woodded area the noises around here carried off the mountains for sometime, and the noises were even more enhanced when you had super enhanced hearing which she had in this case.
"For the record, I am one of Wolverine's children not 'Someone who dresses like him.'" Rina explained. She was a bit unsure about Becka but it looked as if they were similar with having a wild side to them, that was even Rina's code name as she went by Wild Thing. "The name's Rina Howlett and my code name is Wild Thing." Rina said rather dully at this point. She may have been a bit shy but she knew Becka had to be corrected this time around. Wolverine had many children and Rina had been one of the older ones, Daken was probably far older than she, but she knew she wasn't the only one along with her brother, there were others out there and she had yet to meet any of them.
"Shsh!" She said in a low voice towards Becka as she saw something else move through the woods. It had been a quick blur of a figure but she saw it. "Keep your voice down or you're scaring them away." She said pointing a figure in the woods. If Becka looked carefully enough Rina could see a faint outline of at least three wolves.
"There have been complaints that wolves have been attacking villagers, but I don't think these wolves are it, they aren't agressive but they are a little bit curious." She added having been rather fond of wolves when she was a young child. And little did Rina know, her own father Wolverine had associated himself with wolves a couple of times too. Maybe with some encouragement she could get the wolves to come forward towards them. However she didn't blame them for being weary that there were humans nearby.
Becka paused for a moment when Rina told her to keep her voice down, turning to look where she was looking and could see the outlines of the wolves. These wolves were more modern day, smaller cousins than the wolves she had become familiar with. The wolves of the Savage Land were still prehistoric and older, which meant these ones would have been nothing compared to the Antarctic ones she was so familiar with. "I have seen wolves much larger than these ones. They would be considered merely pups at this size." Becka told her, her tone much lower and softer than it had been earlier.
Though, she turned back to Rina, "Ad my apologies, the last time I saw anyone remotely close with that style or hair was from a picture my mother showed me." She explained. "My name is Becka Munroe, daughter of Storm and Black Panther but I also sometimes go by Savage." Becka introduced herself, seeming to grimace towards the end at giving her common codename. It was not one she was particularly fond of and usually tried to avoid anyone seeing such a side of her but there were many times she could not hold it back. Perhaps though Rina would be a little more understanding since she seemed to share a similar power path as her own.
"Complaints?" Becka echoed, giving another glance back at where the wolves have been. "If they are a problem perhaps we can chase them off. We just have to show them who the real alphas are, and find the right pack whose behind these attacks." Becka told her, seeming to already figure she might as well put herself into this situation. "We just have to be careful of course. There strength will be in their numbers more than their size." She observed, knowing that even a single prehistoric wolf was more than a match for two or three villagers in the Savage Land.
"It's alright, all is forgiven." Rina said with a soft nod. "I've heard there are other kids of Wolverine out there, never got to meet them but maybe one day I will." She hoped, and listened to Becka as she spoke and got a name too which surprised her. So Becka was the daughter of Storm and Black Panther? She didn't really look like it, however upon smelling her scent that was when it clicked. She smelled just like Storm who she had met several times in the X-institute so that made sense to her. "You smell like Storm, no offense but I have met her a few times, she's a very good teacher at the X-Man institute." She pointed out.
"Yes they don't seem like the type of wolves that would go out and hunt other people's animals. They seem shy and skittish." Rina said as she looked back at Becka as she talked. It was clear she was curious about the wolves too, but from the looks of things, these were something that she hadn't seen before. Rina had seen wolves a handful of times and they were well known up in Canada. But for the most part they typically stayed away from humans. "I think chasing them off is the best idea for now. I have been tracking them for some time, and I noticed there's another pack in the area. If anything, they're probably the ones who are doing it." Rina pointed out as she hardly saw any aggressiveness in tehse wolves from a distance. However seh knew if they got close enough, they might run away.
That was when Rina stood up as she heard some howls out in the distance and the wolves looked rather alert. These howls did not belong to the few that were standing right here. It could be heard off in the mountains where there were probably other packs. She could see that some of the wolves standing near them were starting to back away like they were ready to leave and flee. "And they're starting to move on their own, I think they got the message from the other wolves." Rina pointed out knowing that Becka might be able to understand the animals too.
"Yes, my mother has told me many times about her teaching at the institute, at least when she isn't busy with royal duties for Wakanda of course." Honestly, that was one thing that didn't surprise Becka, having heard many times from her mother that she loved being a teacher and that she cared for the younger generation, which was probably why she seemed so worried about Becka often. She wondered if Wolverine and Rina's own mother expressed the same amount of worry her parents tended to show, especially since they were often helping with heroics as well.
Hearing the howls in the distance, it was clear this other, more aggressive pack certainly couldn't be far and most likely were trying to chase away the much calmer, non-aggressive and curious pack out of the territory. Seeing how alert they were, it seemed this pack was losing the battle and might soon be chased out entirely if something wasn't done. "If they are trying to chase this peaceful pack out, we have to work fast because it's clear they won't be able to do much on their own." Becka observed, seeing that this may not a peaceful task. But if that meant they had to show their much more savage side this would be one time Becka wouldn't mind showing it to make it clear these wolves were not welcomed.
Seeming as they were far off though, it seemed her and Rina would have to take this fight right to that pack. "Lets get these wolves and show them who the real boss is around here, Rina." Becka said with a determined tone, taking off in the direction she had heard the howls, not being afraid to make some risk.
"Yeah I've heard many stories from my father, I guess he visits it regularly too." Rina admitted. "I've also been there for several times but Canada always seems like home to me." Rina added knowing she had been enrolled there. Maybe she might've seen Becka there when she had been to the group. She knew her father was a bit tight with rules and such, she didn't blame him for that. But most of the time Rina had done her best to let her father believe that he can trust her on her own. After all they are more alike than they realized.
"Yes it seems unfair that theey are fighting amongst each other, it's like they've declared war or something. If we do chase them out I hope they learn a lesson." Rina pointed out knowing she didn't want to hurt or harm any of the wolves. IF they decided to jump them she'd do her best to defend herself. And she wasn't worried about being attacked since she had a healing factor.
"Someone sure is eager. Most people would think twice about trying to get in the way of wolves." Rina pointed out. Then again she didn't realize Becka's past. At one point Logan had even told her a story how he managed to live with a pack of wolves and become their leader. Perhaps she had some kind of connection or interest in the animals too. She was going to find out sooner or later. Becka took off and Rina began to follow, the young woman's scent wa pretty obvious and so were the wolves. They had been through here, probably less than ten or fifteen minutes ago, which was great news. It'd spare them of a long run that was ahead of them in the end. She continued to follow after Becka keeping up with a decent pace. It wouldn't be long before they saw the wolves in the distance that were causing all the trouble. She could hear the growling and snarling as if a warning to say that they should back off.
Despite her senses currently normal, Becka had picked up on the tracks as well, having learned to track back in the Savage Land long before her primal state had even revealed itself. She followed that trail, realizing they were quite fresh which meant that Rina couldn't have been following their earlier trail for very long before they crossed paths. And the closer they got the more tense she was becoming, knowing these wolves were quite aggressive and might not hesitate to attack them, which meant they had to act fast.
Finally, she could see the wolves who, as they suspected, were quick to show their aggressive natures, giving them warnings to stay back or else risk problems. In response, Becka seemed to allow her anger towards what these wolves were doing to take root, her fangs and nails becoming elongated, her "tattoos" appearing on her form, eyes glowing red, ears becoming pointed, and her hair standing on end, giving a low growl of her own. In this state, she could feel the tension in the air even more so than normal, hearing the restless shifting of the pack, perhaps a dozen or so members in this particular one. There was a chance they were going to be facing some problems, "Perhaps going savage will teach these wolves a lesson." She spoke towards Rina, glancing back at the girl and showing just how similar they might be, save for her features being more feline in nature.
If Logan were here he would've put the wolves in place himself, and Rina would've been along for the ride. But Daddy wasn't here, then she was on her own. She was surprised to see Becka as she have a savage state of her own. Rina had her own set of powers too as a familiar snikt noise could be heard. Instead of sharp adamantium claws coming out from her knuckles, there were pisonic claws that glowed a nice neon pink that were similar to her mother's abilities. She also began to attack one of the wolves as she brandished their claws. Once she got close enough to one of the wolves as they charged and ganged up on them Rina put her claws again and managed to aim just right.
The farthest of claws on one right arm struck the wolf's head as it let out a painful cry as it stuck in place. This didn't hurt physically there weren't any wounds. "Becka, I'm going to talk to the wolves, if anything this should be enough." She said. "Just wait as long as you can." She added as she looked at the wolf. It showed fear in its mind and anger too. 'Leave this place wolf you and your pack aren't welcomed here. If you go north, you will find herds there." she said as she pulled the pisonic blade out the wolf looked stunned but it was convinced enough. With that the wolf barked a few times, and began to leave hoping the others would follow. "They're moving out now, they will go north where there is more food for them." She said as the pisonic blade vanished.
Becka was somewhat skeptical this would work, but she reluctantly nodded and allowed Rina to do her thing, still being watchful of the wolves. But there were a few that still charged and it took a snarl and swipe of her claws to cause them to back up, giving some whimpers of fright of the unusual human that seemed to be able to match their ferocity or worse. Feline instincts kicking in, Becka began to pace back and forth along the pack, growling towards any that began to bristle or bare their fangs, allowing Rina to work in peace until she finally got through to one of them and the pack decided to leave.
"I wouldn't count on this being a full proof solution Rina. If their herds move off far beyond their reach, they will be back sooner or later." Becka pointed out, knowing it might be a while but it didn't mean it would be permanent. Herds moved from season to season, or when they were in need of new grounds to allow their previous ones to regrow once more. "But, it will give those farmers some reprieve for a while I suppose.
"Yes I've got a funny feeling I may be back to check on them here, if I can't make it maybe my dad can for the most part." Rina admitted knowing he would want her to focus on school work and her studies. She stood up as it wasn't long for the pisonic claw to appear again on her knuckle and rejoined the other two that were on that area as well. "Though your savage form is interesting, Becka I don't think I know anyone with a form like that." Rina said as she sat there in a crouched position to try and catch her breath. Her adrenaline was still running from earlier as the wolves had attacked them. It would probably fade in time but she wasn't sure when that might happen.
"Are you staying in Canada for long? My father has a shack not far from here that I stay in, we can stay there for the night if you want. If not I understand." She offered not entirely sure what Becka's plans were. But since their parents got along on the Avengers and X-Men maybe it would be the same for her and Becka. It wasn't exactly winter yet, but she knew she could feel the cold air of fall coming in soon. Some of the leaves had started to turn too which she noticed.
"I wouldn't exactly call it interesting Rina, least not personally." Becka sighed, not seeming too keen on her primal state, knowing it always felt like she could lose herself entirely to such a side and go on another rampage. It had happened only once and the results always scared her to no end. If she lost control a large area would be effected, and not just by her own hand but by her emotional state, of which the weather was closely linked to just as much as her mother's own were. It seemed nature was cruel enough for her to inherit a deep link to the planet and the small slice of the Panther God's powers that made her such a way.
Shaking these dark thoughts aside, she tried to not focus on it. "I have a few days I can spare. I needed some time away from New York." She answered, her form slowly returning to normal, "The Concrete Jungle as it's called is not the type of jungle I am looking to be in." She said with distaste, never enjoying her times in New York when the smells, sights, and sounds made her cringe and sometimes wish she were back in the Savage Land where she felt more at home.
"I understand, not many people are fond of the idea that I'm related to Wolverine either, some thing I have the reputation like him, which I don't." Rina admitted. She liked her father, that was true, but many didn't know that Rina had been raised by her mother, Elektra and Wolverine hadn't started coming into the picture until she was a teenager. Which wasn't much of a surprise, the older mutant was a bit of a loner, he didn't hang around much and went on his own. Rina and her brother were close, though her brother had gotten more of the mutation than anyone had expected, but still their family did their best to let them have a normal life, and the X-Men seemed to be the best spot for it.
"Great it's not far from here on the edge of town we should be there before an hour or so." She said hoping that Becka was interested in a long run or they'd find other means of getting there. Like Wolverine, Rina loved to ride Motorcycles, and he had taught her how to ride one from a young age. "You up for a run or we can find some other means to get there?" She offered. She had a feeling though that she'd be back to face these wolves again, she had a feeling that the truce she put up would be a temporary one.
"At leas your reputation would make sense, you can prove that it is a good one." Becka pointed out, sighing softly as she looked at the ground, seeming to not feel the same about her own. Her parents were known to be fierce but firm, they had anger but they knew better than to completely let it show except in the rarest of times. Even Azari was that way. Then, there was her. "Both of my parents are known to be firm, gentle, and wise heroes and rulers, but everything I am, everything I do is the exact opposite it feels like." Becka explained, looking back towards the wolves, feeling she could empathize with them in more than one way.
Shaking her head, she tried to focus back on Rina, "A run sounds good. It was how I got around the Savage Land, so it doesn't bother me to do so now." Becka told her, seeming to not mind a long run. In fact, when it came to the wilderness like this, she felt like she thrived with it, felt more alive than when she was in New York. Sometimes, this was why she never wanted to leave Wakanda, which was more wilderness than civilization. "After you then." She gestured for her to go first, giving a soft smile, showing she was ready to go.
"I don't know if the same could be said about my family, I was raised by my mother mostly. Father was gone a lot but I understand why. I have no grudge against him but I know some half siblings do." Rina admitted. Her father had a rough life of his own always being chased, and when he wasn't he was with the X-Men trying to do some good and fix the problems he had. Maybe even find of what memories he hasn't found yet. "But I am sure we are all different in a sort of way of our parents." Rina admitted as she let her psychic claws. That was the first difference that she had compared to her father, no actual bone claws, but she did have some psychic abilities.
"Alright let's go." Rina said as she began to head off in the direction of civilization. It was faint but she could smell the faint bit of scent from the humans that lived not far away in the nearby village. They could change, even get a bite to eat before heading to the cabin that she and her father had called a home away from home. For all she knew he might be there. But last she checked he had been in the mansion helping out the other members there. "So you're from the savage lands? I've never been there but I heard one story that my father Wolverine had been there, he beat one of the main leaders in battle there." Rina explained having heard plenty of stories from him and Elektra.
