When they began moving, Becka could feel her previous rage finally disappearing fully. It felt rather nice just taking a run, being out in nature and the only real things she heard were the two girls running, the smell of the pines, and the feel of nothing but the hard, natural earth beneath her feet. This was what life should be like, being out in nature and enjoying what it had to offer, not in a restrictive building or being centered in some concrete place. It felt so...odd, being in such a place and she was glad to have something of a kindred spirit when it came to Rina. "I still barely know my parents Rina, I only really just began to know my family again." She admitted.
"Well, I mean I'm not exactly from there. I was originally born in Wakanda, but I was taken as a young child and ended up in the Savage Land. It was where I learned to survive, fight, and live until a year ago, when my astrokinesis abilities kicked in." Becka explained as they moved, catching the smell of humans nearby and making her wonder where they were going. "There are many leaders in the Savage Land, but they are very skilled warriors. So it is quite an accomplishment for an outsider to defeat one of them." Becka said with surprise, though that quickly faded when taking into account who Wolverine was.
The man was a renounced martial artist and skilled fighter. He would be more than skilled enough to prove to be a threat to someone in the Savage land.
"I understand Becka sometimes that area can be hard not to mention be a challenge if you're being compared by your family all the time. I suppose my dad came in and out of my life and my brother's a lot. He couldn't stay put and wandered a lot. I suppose that was the lone wolf side of him." Rina said as she knew that he wasn't just wandering around he probably was working for the X-Men on and off when they gave him a chance to come back. She was also aware that Wolverine had fathered other children but had never come to meet them. Perhaps it was better that way since she didn't want to run into the likes of Daken.
"Hm that's an interesting power I've never heard of it." Rina pointed out wondering if there was a chance they could show their powers. "I'm no surprise I have my father's powers of a healing factor and enhanced senses like sight and smell and then there are the pisonic claws that I got from my mom." Rina admitted. "But the rage thing reminds me of my brother, out of the two of us he is the one who has a far more Wild and beast like side." Rina admitted. "But we do get along." She added knowing there were times when they did not for the most part, it was the usual bickering that siblings did but their mother usually put an end to it. Rina had also never been to Wakanda before, but she had heard of it from stories from Wolverine going there and going to the Savage Lands. If anything it sounded like it was void of human life that they were used to in New York or at the mansion.
As they ran, Rina could smell the smells of exhaust coming from cars and the oil too there was a small town not here, and it was scattered with human scents as well. They were getting close, and she was certain that Becka knew this too. "The town's probably less than a mile from where we were. I tracked the wolf going through here and it scared a bunch of those humans." She said giving a bit of a smirk it was kinda funny but not at the same time if it was killing livestock and being more than just a game.
Becka thought for a moment, finding it surprising Rina had never heard of the power before. Then it dawned on her astrokinesis was probably known better by a different term. “Well, I can control the weather within a limited area like my mother can. It is really almost the same as hers but not nearly as powerful.” She explained about her own powers, but her expression quickly turned into a frown. “As you probably saw, my father’s connection to the Panther God also influenced my x-gene to where I have a feral side, my primal form as many have come to call it.” One thing was clear, Becka did not seem overly fond of her feral powers in the least.
As they moved though, the now familiar smell of humans, exhaust fumes, and other scents made her scrunch her nose. It was not nearly to the level of a city like New York but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to bristle at such smells. “Perhaps if they still held connections to their wild ancestral roots like you and I did they would understand the animals better in this area. It is very likely the wolves once came through here.” Becka pointed out, almost having a cynical tone towards the people that lived in the nearby town. “I’d bet you any money they wouldn’t last five minutes in the Savage Land. Most don’t even realize prehistoric life still exists anymore.” She mused at the thought, imaging the horrified faces of the modern day humans.
"Oh I get it having a weather power instead, I honestly thought it had something to do with stars, I feel a bit ashamed of saying that." Rina said knowing some people compared her to her father and they had a similar bit of powers here and there, but quite frankly she found herself having a comparison with her mother Elektra. After all Wolverine wasn't always there and she had discovered that at a young age when he would often disappear for days, at least now she would understand why.
Rina nodded as she listened to Becka as she heard her speak up about the ancestors, "Yes I think the older wise men of this town would've understood it. But before they could get their words out they were called off and wanted the wolves gone or dead." Rina said with a sigh knowing there could've been a much more peaceful times. "Hm probably not, I doubt they'd last long at all." She added seeing that the savage lands were probably nothing like the towns and cities that they had visited. "Hm well if my father can survive that area, maybe one day I can go there." Rina said. "Of course on calm and more non lethal terms." She added as she smelled the air realizing that some people had fires set in their homes to heat up for the afternoon and evening.
“Sorry for the confusion, I know a lot of powers have similar names. I just picked up on the scientific name is all, so I started using that to describe my manipulation of the weather.” Becka explained as they moved, pausing near the edges of the woods to stare down at the town. Smoke rose from the chimneys and she could see all the activity below, even seeing the occasional glance towards the woods. Perhaps these people were resorting to such actions out of fear and foolishness, lacking the proper way of handling the situation. They did not seem to know the best way to live in harmony with the environment and she could only shake her head with disappointment.
“Maybe I can take you there one day, use one of the sky cycles the Avengers have.” She suggested, turning her gaze back towards her fellow mutant. “I have not visited there since I was found and I’ll admit I felt more at home there than New York. There I am not as worried of harming someone if I lose control.” Becka said, muttering the last part mostly to herself.
"It's alright but I understand why you did that. My father has claws like my own but they're pisonic more like my mother's abilities. It's just interesting how we were handed down their powers." Rina said as she noticed that the town was active and busy as always. The smell of a fire was still fresh in that area as they were burning to keep warm. "We don't have much longer to go the house is on the edge of the town which by now you've probably figured out is pretty small." Rina said having remembered that she had been here when she was much younger when Wolverine took her and her brother out towards this place for a retreat and then that snow storm came unexpectedly as they were snowed in so it was a couple more days of staying with her family that she hadn't expected.
"I'd like that Becka, I think that'd be fun or something different to do." Rina frowned when she heard Becka speak up about her worrying about loosing control. "You don't have to worry about doing it around me Becka I've felt my father's anger and my brother's as well both of them are probably much more feral than I so I'm used to it." She admitted knowing that it probably ran more in the family than she realized. Rina was a mixture of her parents but it was obvious that she took after her mother more than anything.
"From the smell I can tell we're not far." Becka confirmed as she followed Rina towards the cabin her family sometimes used. But, that didn't stop her from listening from around them, looking out for others who might come up unexpectedly or other possible wildlife. After all, they lived close to the forested area which meant more than just wolves might be running around such as moose, caribou, deer, and even bears. Now that is one thing she wouldn't mind just being out in the forest, seeing the different types of animal life that was here compared to where she had been raised.
But when she heard Rina not minding her feral side, she couldn't help looking away. "The only downside to my feralness Rina is that it ties in with my weather manipulation. I share my mother's close psionic ties to the atmosphere, so if I go out of control so does the weather in the area. And if it gets bad..." Becka shook her head, trying not to think about what untold damage she could possible cause. It would eventually tire her out but within that short time frame who knew what she could end up doing.
"That does sound bad." Rina pointed out hearing Becka talk about her powers. "If you got angry enough...that'd be enough to cause a possible blizzard. I may not like most of the humans here but that doesn't mean they need to deal with a blizzard." Rina added with a frown. "No offense Becka." She added realizing that she might've hurt Becka too with that. After another short walk they arrived at the cabin as she took out a key that her father had given her before she left the Institute to come out all this way. She heard a loud chunk from the locks that opened as she could tell that Logan had probably installed these himself. Once the door opened they were in side. It appeared time had been very still there were cold drafts coming in from a few pieces of windows but everything was relatively untouched from when the last time the Howletts had been here.
"Well I know it's not like the X institute but it does have its good moments in the house." Rina said as she turned on the electricity and she could hear the electronics in the house turning on into life as if they were welcoming it. It was hard to believe it had been several years since they last had been here. It felt nostalgic at first as she looked around the room seeing the fire place. it looked cold now but often times Logan and the kids would make fires in it to heat the house. Stuff like that had stayed with Rina for some time and she hadn't forgotten it. Those times seemed pretty simple.
"I know they wouldn't appreciate it, no one would. And trust me, that isn't something I ever want to happen." Becka told her, clenching her fists as Rina unintentionally seem to cut her with words alone. It was not something Becka liked to bring up and knew Rina meant well, but the young Howlett had struck one of the sore spots for her. It was why she had been careful when it came to the wolves, allowing her feral side to only come out so much before it started affecting the weather. The only time she had lost that control was when the Dark Avengers had attacked Tony's and Jamie's wedding.
Stepping into the cabin though, Becka took a moment to look around curiously. The cabin was a decent sized and filled with the necessities, but definitely felt homey. She could see why the Howlett family would like coming out here, although it was clear it had been a while since anyone had used the cabin. A small sneeze left her as some dust got into her nose, "Think your cabin could use a bit of dusting." Becka mused, dusting off the polished wooden mantle above the fire place, before dusting off her hands.
Turning her gaze to the fire place though, she could see some fire wood, not yet burned, in the fire place. Pointing her finger, a small spark of electricity shot from the tip and struck the wood, causing a brief burst of flames before it settled back to normal. "Who needs a match when you got electricity."
Rina sighed realizing she might've hit a nerve, it wasn't intentional but she knew how it could be with having an angry side. She didn't seem so bad compared to Wolverine but she had seen it through her brother Saberclaw, Hudson Howlett had it much worse. Often Rina had to come to his rescue to try and stop it or his mother when things got out of hand. She wasn't sure if she wanted to tell Becka that, Saberclaw was her brother and everyone had their flaws. Rina was no different. The fact that her family was feral was hard to ignore, Rina had gone angry once or twice by herself but she managed to calm down, but she imagined it was nothing compared to what Becka had to go through.
"Yeah it hasn't been used a lot lately though I know Logan would like to come out here again he always tells me but the X-Men are keeping everyone busy." Rina said. If they had any free time or were bored they could probably do a quick cleaning of the home she knew her father would appreciate it as she put her bag down on the end of the couch as he sat down for a bit for a breather.
That was when Rina saw Becka do something that surprised her she lit the fire with a bit of electricity. Suppose that made her chuckle a bit she was impressed, "Well I have seen my father light fires with his own cigarette or even his adamantium claws I guess he got clever with it since he knew his claws could have a spark to them when they hit certain materials. Sadly mine aren't adamantium." She admitted knowing her own claws were psionic based after her mother. It was so weird that she was the spitting image of both family members but heay family is family.
“I think the same could be said about the Avengers to be honest. I rarely have the chance to ever be away from the tower or the city, mostly because we’re always training, patrolling, or worrying about something.” Becka could definitely relate to such concerns. She could recall it had been some time since she never had to worry about her duties as an Avenger and the princess of Wakanda, her newest duties that was. Luckily, she had quickly picked up of what was expected of her as an Avenger, a princess, and in a civilian life compared to those of the Savage Land. Here, she wasn’t quite fighting for survival or her place in a village, her places and duties were far more clean-cut.
Though, she gave a slight smile, seeing Rina’s impressed look. “Those methods are just as good, but I much prefer the quicker way.” She gestured to the small spark that came from her hand before it disappeared. “Like I said, I share many powers of my mother, and luckily I’ve learned to somewhat control it enough.” Luckily for Becka, she was a quick study. She had slowly learned to control some of her weather manipulation abilities, enough to have kept more mental control and emotional control, although not all the time.
"Hm perhaps the Avengers are similar to the X-Men. More than we realize...Besides the obvious we all have super powers and try to be super heroes." Rina said as she thought about it. Some of the mutants on the group have come from hard lives, often running from the law or were persecuted for being a super powered member. Rina smiled, "Well I was going to get a match but that works too." She said pointing out towards where Becka had turned the fire on with her electrical powers. And she nodded. "I suppose we're the same like that. I share a lot of Wolverine's powers and my mother's Elektra's as well." Rina said. "But in some ways I tend to think of myself more being like my mother than Wolverine." Rina admitted knowing that Logan had been a loner most of his life and sometimes Rina found her following his footsteps of wanting to be alone.
She nodded as she listened to Becka as she spoke, perhaps the X-Men and Avengers should team up more often. They certainly were allies in more ways than one. It made her wonder if that would happen? She sniffed the air finding it besides the fire starting to wake up, there were no scents. It smelt rather stale there which meant to her that Logan or anyone else like her brother hadn't been here in awhile. Maybe a couple of months at most. "Well you can make yourself at home here, Becka there are some beds in one of the back rooms. We have this place to ourselves." She pointed out as she came over to one of the doors as she opened it finding several cots, there was one other room where Logan and her mother often slept or any other guests that were here.
"Well, the X-men and Avengers are tied to each other in more ways than one. A lot of the X-men have been Avengers, whether full time or part-time." Becka pointed out as she loosely crossed her arms over her chest out of habit. There was no attitude or annoyance in the gesture, she just simply did it. But, she had read up on the history of the Avengers a while ago, having seen the ever changing roster of the Avengers back in the day, her own mother among them and so had Wolverine. "Perhaps that is one thing we also have in common; my mother and your father were both Avengers for a time as well. So, there is that."
Becka though seemed to be able to empathize with Rina in more ways than she herself realized. When it came to her abilities, she sometimes preferred to be alone, working solo to avoid possibly harming others. And sometimes it was easier to get her thoughts straight in general when she didn't have others hovering around her and making her feel awkward. "Thanks Rina, I'll make sure to find a room soon enough." Becka assured her as she uncrossed her arms finally.
"You are right with that Becka. The Avengers and X-Men will always be tied. Probably through friends or even marriages at this point." Rina said knowing more than once Wolverine had teamed up with the Avengers from his stories and mostly he worked with the X-Men. It was interesting but she knew that her mother Elektra sometimes worked for the Heroes for Hire or she went on her own solo missions which worked too. Rina knew that the life of a super hero or even villain was a challenging one you were facing danger every step of the way and had to defend themselves.
"You know you're probably right about that." Rina agreed as she gave Becka a smile as she looked back seeing that she would find one of the free rooms. This place had an empty feel to it as Rina realized it. There had once been her father, brother, and Elkectra too all in the same house. But now it was just her and Becka so it had an odd feeling to it. She'd have to shake that off at some point and get used to it if they were going to stay for awhile. Rina walked over to one room that had the door open just slightly as she found her way in, "I stayed in this room a lot this one was my room and my brother Saberclaw...or Hudson as he's known by." Rina pointed out.
"I believe it is difficult for most of the hero and villain teams not to be connected in one way or another. If you look back at their long history there is always a team up or a common goal somewhere." Becka pointed out, finding herself surprisingly enthused to share such knowledge. As much as she wasn't pleased to have been uprooted from the Savage Land she was honored to have learned a bit more about where the hero lineage ran. And now the next generation like themselves had a chance to forge the road to see where they went.
Moving towards the rooms, Becka began sniffing the air a bit, her keen senses not as strong when she was out of her primal state. After a moment she found one that didn't appear to have been taken, no fresh or stale scents being present. Though she glanced back towards Rina curiously, "Oh? You have siblings too huh?" She inquired.
