May could still hear the instructor's voice in her head, they treated her like a child and it annoyed her so much that they treated her as such. It wasn't fair if you ask her! May was a reliable...er sort of reliable teenager who was trying to become a super hero and after that she received one of the worst groundings...toilet cleaning. She had heard how people often got this job as a punishment through her father and it was nothing but a disgusting mess.
She must've washed her hands about five times to try and get that awful smell of before she was able to leave SHIELD and go out on her own. "Finally there's no SHIELD, no yelling SHIELD agent, and no worries it's just me and Spider-Girl searching for bad guys just like old times." May said as she had her spidey suit on. It was one similar towards her father. However May had her own design to it and it matched her body, you could clearly see it was a female wearing it. Using her hand she went forward and sent a webbing bit towards one of the roofs of a nearby building as she swung forward with all her might.
Within the past year or so May had discovered that she had an uncle, or at least they all did at this point. His name was Kaine Riley as he was a copy of her father. He was a bit gruff and tough at times, but he was typically alright. He was also sometimes hard to get along with. However despite the hard personality, she knew Kaine cared. even if he didn't always admit it.
"Hm I wonder if I should visit uncle if he's ever up for it. He seems to drown himself in work like the adults too." She said as she sighed she had her own homework to do. However tomorrow was Saturday and she had all day to do it. May sent out another blast of webbing as she went through the city. So far it was awfully quiet here for a Friday perhaps there would be more excitement if she looked elsewhere from Times Square. Any robots that need smashing? Or any bad guys that need to spot? She was itching for anything!
Staying inside the Dark Avengers' recently bought mansion was a less than ideal thing for someone like Vanora. She knew she had strong allies and a place they could operate, but she was itching to get to doing something since joining this group, and a part of her was still trying to get use to even being on a team rather than just being solo like she usually was. So, she had opted to leave any tidying up and what not to two mortals who knew about this sort of thing when it came to Midgard, mostly because Vanora herself had not been raised there despite her half mutant heritage. Rather, Vanora had spent her time living in Asgard before things with her family had soured and she had come here without so much as giving them a chance to stop her.
For the moment, Vanora had herself disguised as one of those wolf-dog breeds, a mix of a Midgardian wolf and something they called a husky. She trotted along, acting friendly or occasionally snapping when one or two shady humans came too close for comfort and she made her attitude known towards them. The disguise was perfect and allowed her to blend in, at least in a different way that didn't immediately give away her emotions.
Though, as the demi-goddess was strolling along the sidewalk, her ears perked up at the sound of something from above, raising her head to peer around until she spotted an iconic suit. This though was a feminine looking spider hero, perhaps the famed Spider-Girl everyone was talking about on the human news networks. 'Just the entertainment I was looking for.' She thought with an inward grin, quickly taking off into a full run, tailing May for sometime until they seemed to get closer to Time Square which seemed to be busier than most other parts of this large city. Even more perfect, and even more of a way of making a final statement solo. It was time she made herself known.
Snarling, she charged over to the stopped traffic, leaping onto a car as her form began to grow and change and she jumped onto the cab roof of a large semi, leaving a small indention in the metal from her harsh landing. "Hey hero! If you're looking for something to do, why don't you try your sorry Midgardian powers on a real villain." Vanora called, her tone having a growling edge to it as she stood to her full height in her white furred werewolf state.
May stopped on the building as she felt the familiar tingle that her father would always get. May felt a heavy burden sometimes trying to be her father's shadow, but she knew she wasn't alone. There was Ben and Kaine who were both clones. Kaine had tried many times to try and get away from that feeling so he donned the Scarlet Spider uniform for Kaine. "That's not good." May pointed out as she heard someone call out for her as she looked, spotting the demi goddess as she clung to the car that she decided to try and take her chances. "The name's Spider-Girl for one and for another I do not have sorry powers. I have powers of my father, I'm sure you're aware of the famous Spider-Man." May said as she looked at Vanora. She wasn't scared, in fact she was a bit excited to see that this was her chance.
"But if you insist I'll gladly show you what we can do as spiders." May said as she landed on a nearby building and sent some webbing and aimed it for Vanora's face. She then jumped down with her athleticism as she began to swing her right food towards her in hopes of doing some damage. In reality the webbing had just been a way to distract Vanora as she came down with the real blow. Sure May had only been a part of SHIELD for a few years on the Web Warriors, but she was ready to try and do some real work. Her father wasn't around to baby sit her, neither was Kaine nor Ben. She was on her own.
"And as they say with great power comes great responsibility, you'll be my responsibility creep." May remarked as she was ready to see how Vanora was going to work here. Some of the nearby humans were shocked to see a fight as it came. Others screamed and ran away in fear knowing sticking around was not such a good idea. if any did stick around. May would do her best to try and keep them out of harms way, but fighting Vanora and keeping the humans was more of a theory than how it'd actually turn out. If she did need help she knew some of the Web Warriors were nearby.
Vanora couldn't help the giddiness that she was feeling. This would be the first real action she would get in a long while, perhaps one of her best ones yet. Vanora had faced some rather decent opponents in her short life span, some that had even given her parents a run for their money but none of them had lasted long enough to give Vanora the real thrill she was looking for. That was why Midgard seemed the perfect testing grounds to find real opponents and truly test her limits.
When the webbing came her way, the demi-goddess immediately ducked from the shot, "Webbing? Surely you can do better." She scoffed, peering back towards the mutant but snarling as she was struck, causing her to stumble and fall from the semi, landing with a loud thud on the pavement. "Now we're talking." Vanora said, her grin only growing wider as she pushed herself up, "And quite frankly I could care less who your father is, much less your mother. They don't define who you are as a hero or villain." Vanora retorted launching herself onto the hood of the semi once more, fur bristled as she did and her tail lashing.
"Stop living by their rules and definitions, maybe you'll find yourself a lot freer as a result." Launching herself once more, Vanora snarled as she lashed out with her claws towards May, intending to give this girl a real fight, holding nothing back behind her blows.
"Seesh and here I thought my brother was a pain in the butt at times you are about ten times worse." May said though she wasn't quippy like her father was when it came to puns and jokes, May knew when there was a time to be serious. After attempting a kick towards Vanora she quickly felt her spidey sense go off and she knew why too, there were sharp claws coming for her as the tingling in the back of her head made it obvious. "Really? claws?" She asked as she began to quickly duck the first couple of blows and then the last one caught her off guard as she felt the last one hit her end as her arm got knicked and her suit ripped exposing some skin but luckily for May her healing factor would kick in to heal it.
"Heay! I only have one suit you know, you'll pay for that!" She said calling out as she sent forward some webbing out towards Vanora. But luckily she remmebered her shield tech as she had sent this one to some electrical shock, or a stun gun. "Here's a word of advice, don't let your anger get a hold of you all the time, otherwise it might as well blind you from seeing what's real." May said having heard stories in the past from her father where anger blinded him and he wanted revenge from her great uncle Ben and that held him back from being the Spider-Man he really was and what he went by.
"But I'm sure you're not going to listen to me are you? You've fallen on deaf ears." She said as she sent out another kick to try and get the female to fall. She could see that the others around her the civilians were a bit afraid but hesitating at the same time as they caught it on video with their phones. If May was in a situation like this without powers, she would've run. Sometimes humans were so stupid. But in a really dire situation, May would've had second thoughts on calling the Web Warriors in for help but so far she was handling this fine. Maybe her father or even Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man 2099 might be able to help since they were usually in the area of New York City. But she wanted to see how she'd do on her own for now.
When her claws tore through the flimsy suit May wore and made contact, Vanora couldn’t help the predatory grin forming. Whether she made a small scratch or just knocked her opponent silly, she loved the thrill of battle and not having to hold back. Her parents had instructed her to do so back on Asgard, to know when to harm and when not to. With Vanora able to keep her conscience compared to her mother, she had such principles of keeping right or wrong. Only difference between her and May, she wasn’t close to her parents any longer and cared not for what they had taught her except in fighting and tactics.
“You’re right about one thing, I don’t care to listen to goody two shoed heroes like yourself.” Vanora growled, raising her arm to take most of the webbing but snarling as she got a shock. It was enough to bring some pain but not to stop her. But it slowed her down, enough May’s kick struck her, causing her to stumble a foot or two and shaking her head to clear it. “I’ve seen clearly for a few years now spider, I feel more liberated than I ever have when I’m not tied down by obligations and rules of Asgard or the X-men.” She retorted, her tone bitter and venomous, clearly showing there was some anger towards the X-men, and seemingly some towards her parents.
“How about I show you my powers little arachnid.” Snarling, Vanora moved to all fours before she began to change and grow to roughly twice her height and length, taking on a feral wolf appearance but one only the Avengers or Asgardians would know, a smaller version of Fenrir. Howling enough to cause the glass to vibrate and threaten to shatter from being in such close proximity to so many buildings, it was clear the young hybrid had every intention of making this difficult for May. She glared towards the masked teen before turning her attentions on the nearby populace, “Time to squash some Misgardians.” She sneered, swiping one paw towards the crowd, causing one man to scream in pain as she knocked him aside, tearing through fabric and flesh, blood staining her claws and she soon was crouching and pouncing at the rest of the bystanders who barely scrambled to move.
"Really?" There was slight sarcasm in May's voice as she heard Vanora talk about being a goody two shoed hero. She honestly thought that Vanora could've come back with a better come back. The Parkers were always good at making up come backs, perhaps it was just how Peter reacted to fear and talked things over to himself to figure out dangerous tasks. And May would see that this was about to become dangerous herself. She had thought about calling Kaine the Scarlet Spider was not far from where she was. But it was just one super villain, she thought she could handle it here.
And that was once more when her spidey sense was sent off, not in the direction of herself but towards others as Vanora reached out and slashed at them. Seeing that the great motto that her father went by, with "Great Power comes great Responsibility came in. "Maybe this is what my dad meant by the motto." She said knowing beating the bad guy was one thing but saving the civilians was another. "Heay Leave them alone!" She called out as she sent out her webbing towards one of the buildings and once it got a good firm hold she swung forward and with one arm grabbed onto one of the civilians that was right into Vanora's path hoping that this would at least avoid someone else's mauling.
"I thought Werewolves only came out when the full moon is out. Clearly you haven't been keeping track of your star chart lately Wolfy." May said as she dropped the man on a nearby building seeing that her job was not far from over at this point. Sighing she might have bitten off more than she can chew at this point, and she was the youngest of the Web Warriors it didn't sound like such a bad idea. "To any of the Web Warriors out there I could use some help!" She said hoping not to regret this. Her own father would give her a big "I told you so" Speech later and she wasn't in the mood for it.
"Why don't you sit tight wolfy there are other ways to take out your anger maybe you just haven't found yours yet." May said as she sent out a blast of webbing hope to catch one of Vanora's sharp claws. It reminded her of Miguel's a bit, or at least Spider-Man 2099. At least he was decent enough not to attack her or other civilians. Suppose that was just the harsh way of being a bad guy.
Vanora didn’t quite seem to mind causing so much pain and terror. Contrary to what she had been taught, she felt no need to hold back, to stop before someone got seriously hurt. No, to Vanora, this is what it felt like to be free and devoid of needing limitations as others had been taught from heroic parents. She had one who had become a veteran member of the X-men, but her and her mother had long since been estranged from one another. Seeing how May worked, it genuinely made her sick to her stomach. ‘What nonsense to worry about innocent lives than your own.’ She thought to herself.
When May came swinging in to save the man she had been about to strike, the demi-goddess snapped her jaws at the spider heroine, but she moved too fast for Vanora to make contact. No matter, there was still plenty of other concerns she could do. Hearing May however, Vanora glanced up with a soft snort, “And apparently they stopped teaching mythology in high schools, maybe you should read up sometime.” She retorted, far from impressed by May’s attempts at smart alec quips. Spider-man himself had become famous for it, now it seemed his offspring were just as bad. “Maybe you should come up with your own signature besides smart remarks insect, I heard that schnick was taken.”
Was she good at snappy comebacks? Not really. Then again, Vanora never truly cared for doing such a thing, she just cared about throwing her power around and causing mayhem. It was almost a trait that ran in the family. Dodging the blast of webbing, Vanora backed up slightly, eyeing May with the look of a predator watching its prey, already having an idea she would have to play a bit dirty if she hoped to cause May a lot more trouble than this. “Hey arachnid, heads up!” Vanora leaned down, grabbing an SUV between her jaws, causing the alarm to start going off as she crushed it slightly from the pressure. Turning on the spot, she gave her head a sharp turn, sending the vehicle flying towards May.
"As far as I can tell you look like a werewolf ever heard of coming out when there is a full moon? because last i checked there wasn't one." May said as she clung onto one of the nearby walls as she waited to see what Vanora was doing next. Vanora was getting on May's nerves for one she was hurting innocent people like most villains do, and she didn't seem to care about the damage that she was causing, another likely villain problem. May wanted to show that she could do this on her own without trying to cause any trouble for the other spider heroes. She could do this on her own.
However little did she know that someone was nearby, who was watching. As May saw that the next part did surprise her in this. Vanora's strength was incredible as she picked up the SUV with her jaws clenching it with ease. The van must've weighed tons of pounds as she stood there she froze but something grabbed her at the last second, and the two moved out of the way. As She opened up her eyes she realized she wasn't alone as someone stood on one of the nearby light polls that would light up the streets at night. It was none other than her uncle Kaine who had come in at the last minute to rescue her. Which she wouldn't admit.
"Uncle Kaine what are you doing here? I can handle this my self!" May said. "Clearly you can't half this city block has been destroyed by now and you're welcome on the save." the red suited spider said as he jumped down off the light and he was relieved to see that May was safe. The van probably skidded to a hault nearby as it smashed into the ground causing a small crater. If May had been underneath that she might've been crushed and blacked out for a day, so Kaine no doubt came to the rescue here.
"Alright punk, you really want to do a tango? Here are two spiders for you weather or not you like it... Here I am." Kaine said as he unsheathed his stingers from his wrists. As Vanora probably guessed it by now there were two spiders. "SHIELD got word that there was a disturbance going on in down town so i went in to investigate on my own." Kaine said knowing Fury would've wanted it anyways. As he waited for his chance, Scarlet Spider rushed forward ready to send a slash towards Vanora mostly for a distraction as Spider-girl went in to throw a punch as well, any one of them might've hit at this point.
Ooc: I figured May might need a little help. Hopefully it's ok if I dragged Kaine into this and saw it as a good time for it.
Vanora narrowed her eyes when she saw May had been saved at the last moment, by none other than the veteran hero Scarlet Spider. She, like many, knew of his previous reputation, having once been a villain for a time before Spider-man managed to change his ways. But, it didn't seem to scare her by any means, the Fenrir looking wolf only growling her challenge towards them, "Two of you now? Should I be scared and shaking in my fur?" Vanora asked in a mocking tone, shifting her stance to show she was ready for them.
As Kaine came at her, Vanora charged forward, taking the stinger strikes with little hesitation but hissing slightly from the burning sensation as a result. She nevertheless rammed her head into Kaine, trying to force him away a few feet from the sheer size and strength from her changed state, although no where near the level her distant relative would have been capable of. Not that it stopped the second attack. May's punch hit its mark, getting right into the shoulder blade of Vanora's large wolf form, causing her to snarl and rear back. The downside to this form was it slowed her down a lot more, hindered her usual reflexes.
"Grragh, I can't fight like this." She growled under her breathe as she backed away, her wounded muzzle slowly healing she shifted back to her more werewolf state. "Much better, now we can really go some rounds!" Vanora told them, howling her battle cry before she charged towards the spiders with faster speeds than in her larger state she had taken, swiping her claws towards them or aiming some kicks, her reflexes being faster as well.
Kaine felt the ping of the familiar Spidey sense hit him as he knew it was bound to happen. Vanora was running a rampage through those helpless humans in New York and May decided to call back up, well that was at least better than being destroyed viciously by a werewolf like creature. Wait a minute did she just change forms? As Kaine tried to react to it he quickly got out of the way for that one as May also put up some webbing but she had a feeling that might only slow Vanora down as she felt some claws go down her side as she winced in pain. Now she knew how it felt to be struck by Kaine's stingers.
"Heay! You really do fight dirty don't you. I suppose you ignore every other peace of morale that a human might have." May said as she climbed onto a nearby building.
"Fighting and yapping isn't going to help here." Kaine pointed out as the older and stronger of the two spiders was there. "We need to slow her down and catch her like the dirty canine she is." Kaine said knowing they had to find a way to figure this out and fast. As he seemed to be thinking about it May offered at least one part of the solution that might work.
"She was after me in the beginning of all this I can be the bate I can lure her right to you-" Before Kaine could object to it he saw that May was jumping off of the building as she landed on a nearby car that was parked. The owner of it was probably long gone as they headed for the hills and even for some shelter. "Heay Doggy! You want to follow me to the park. Oh I bet you hate parks too or even long walks." She said sounding like some familiar bantering that Kaine might've put up with Peter. He sighed as he realized quickly that she really was Peter's kid. Underneath that red and black mask of his, he was more of having a look like 'give me a break.' Still Kaine knew he had to get her away from some of the humans here, maybe heading down an alley way was the best for now, and he could possibly corner her there.
