Cerise had been the youngest child of Kymiri and Kurt Wagner or Nightcrawler as he was known by. The young neyaphem was out by herself that evening trying to learn and use her powers. Unfortunately it couldn't be easily be said and done for Cerise. "Ugh dad makes it look so easy." She said as she found herself pretty much doing a face plant on the ground.
After recovering from her crash she rubbed her face and brushed the dirt off of her blue fur. If there was anything that she didn't like, it was getting her fur covered and dirty. She sometimes wore jackets, but a simple shirt and pants seemed to fit fine for now. And she was outside at the school so she didn't have the prying eyes of the humans watching her.
"Just face it I won't be a super hero like mom or dad maybe it's just not meant for me." She said with a sigh. She knew she was young and TJ and Nocturne almost made it look easy on being a super hero. She climbed up on one of the branches nearby in a tree as she clung to it. Her tail wrapped around it pretty easily as she watched the stars. Around here you certainly got a good view of the stars and moon so she loved that. It also made her think about her darkness manipulation too. Could she really use it? Or was that something that was out of her league too?
Cerise though wasn't the only blue furred being moving around the school ground. Talia herself had decided to come out for a walk since she felt a little cooped up when being in the school for too long a period, something that had become a habit since her days training for the X-men in her own dimension. There her father had sometimes been unbearable, even to the point she sometimes felt resentment towards him for pressing her too hard too fast. And being here now brought back most of the negative memories rather than the good, making her shake her head slightly.
But as she was coming out, Talia heard a thud as if someone had fallen, making her pause for to take a look. Through the darkness she made out a shape moving but some of the trees made it difficult to make out who that person was. Moving closer to peer into the tree, she was surprised to see her half-sister Cerise who seemed to be contemplating something or lost in thought. Unfortunately she couldn't entirely make out what her sister was thinking.
"Cerise? Are you alright?" Talia called as she came to the base of the tree, peering up at her sister and making out her blue furred form among the branches, having yet to see anyone else who was blue in color, much less having a fine fur like their family did.
"Uh who said that?" Cerise asked. At first she wasn't aware that someone had been watching her, but as she looked around she saw a blue figure. It could've been anyone, she first thought it was either TJ or her father but it was neither one. It was her half sister Talia who she had come to like and be fond of for quite some time now. "Oh heay there Talia." She said as she watched her sister come down and descend upon the land that she had been practicing her powers on.
"I was just practicing my teleportation powers, I am not very good at using them. Dad makes it look so easy...I just went splat on my face upon entering this world again...how embarressing!" Cerise said as she kicked the ground a bit showing her frustration. Although Cerise was relatively young she felt like she was being pressured to try and use her powers. She still had some time before she wanted to figure out what she could do, and fighting wasn't really her thing from the looks of it. Maybe she could help in the medical department...after all her dark manipulation powers did heal a few people from what she discvered. That was always an option.
"I guess I may have to ask dad about some pointers, or to teach me about it." She asked as she rubbed the back of her head. "Is everything alright on your end, Talia? I haven't seen you in a while but I suppose classes and homework keep us busy." She assumed as she stood up on her back feet as her tail swished a bit showing a bit of her frustration.
Talia couldn't help giving her younger half-sister a look of sympathy, knowing what it was like to go through a period of struggling with one's powers. She unfortunately didn't share their father's teleportation which meant she couldn't really be of much help for the younger Neyaphem, but that didn't mean she could give a little advice. "Maybe going to dad wouldn't hurt Cerise, he might be able to teach you the basics." Talia pointed out, dropping down next to her sister, landing in a half crouch before standing straight, extending her retracted tail to give it a few flicks before letting it rest.
Unfortunately, she didn't really know what to say about being rushed. Talia had known that all her life, her father had hounded her about control and being disciplined, something that had caused a rift between them in her home universe. She didn't want to see that with Cerise and at the same time didn't want to drag her problems into her sister's as well. "Maybe you just need to speak with someone on the matter sis. I don't think the X-men mean to push you towards fighting, maybe they just want to be sure you can defend yourself if you came under attack." Talia offered a suggestion, maybe a more logical way to handle the fighting aspect of the X-men.
She at least knew that much. The X-men taught combat for both offensive and defensive concerns, and maybe Cerise just needed that. "And everything is...fine. I'm still getting use to being here is all, you could say it's somewhat different than what I am use to." Talia told her, her tail giving the faintest uncertain twitch, indicating some uncertainty of how she felt. Deep down, the only comfort she had was that this world wasn't entirely different from her own but she also felt a little out of place at the same time.
"Yeah I guess you're right. He's the best teleporter I know around here." Cerise agreed as she sat in a crouched position. "And I'm sure he had plenty of mess ups when he was younger and trying to learn." She said wondering if that made her feel a little bit better or not. "And I suppose you're right. I still have a bit of time maybe I'm just rushing myself or trying to impress my parents." Cerise said as she realized she made a small mistake. "Er our parent, that's still takes some getting used too."
"You now, I was very thrilled to find out that I had a sister, even if we are technically step sisters. TJ does a good job looking out for me but I think it'd be better if I had a sister." Cerise said with a soft nod perhaps they both needed time here in order to get used to everything. That was something they had in common then and it made Cerise nod a bit. One thought did occur to her as she looked back at Talia, "Say Tal, if you need any help trying to get around this place, I know the Xavier Institute pretty well by now. I was born here." She said knowing the mansion could be a bit hard to get around at first if you didn't know where you were going. There were many mutants here, so Cerise felt like she could befriend them, however going out into some place like New York was another story all in its own. She was scared of going.
"Everyone messes up sometimes when they discover their powers Cerise, even dad had his issues. Back in my home universe he told me some tales of how he ran into walls or teleported to the wrong spot by mistake." Talia told her, even trying to joke a little to lighten her sister's mood. Those had been some of the few times her and her father had gotten along quite well, when times were uncertain what her powers would be. But things had soured so quickly after that and during her training, sometimes she wondered if her and her father would fully amend their relationship. Her bravery with the younger X-men of that reality had helped but those times seemed so far away now.
But she still listened to Cerise and could only smile when hearing she was glad to have Talia around. "I was surprised to find I had any siblings when I ended up dropped here Cerise. The last reality I went to dad hadn't even married anyone, much less dated anyone yet." Talia told her, sitting crosslegged beside her sister as her tail wrapped around her as she did to avoid accidentally sitting on it, giving her head a soft shake. "I'm glad I have you and TJ though. Feels like there is finally more of our family I can relate to now where in my home reality I am an only child. And to be honest, I don't have the greatest relationship with dad where I'm from. He's a little more...strict where I come from and we've had enough issues we were driven apart." It was tough admitting such things to her younger half-sister, but it seemed she couldn't hide it forever.
Though she managed to bring a smile to her face, showing the lower parts of her slightly longer canines. "And I know the mansion like the back of my hand too. I was born there, raised there, trained there. You could say my life was a lot like yours, only a little more chaotic thanks to my own mother." She chuckled, knowing how her mother's side of the family was rather eccentric and complicated.
"I'm glad I'm not the only one. I know I've teleported to places that I've never seen before and they were accidents too." Cerise admitted as she knew she had teleported once into New York by accident and quickly came back before she had a panic attack among the humans. That was not her home, they wouldn't accept their kind...would they? "But it sounds painful, if you ran into a wall by accident." She said wincing at that but trying to hold back a few giggles of her own.
"Yeah my dad..er our dad." Said Cerise, trying to find the right words, it was a bit confusing for her on what they said towards Kurt on who's father he was. But perhaps it was better to say both of their father's at this rate to avoid some confusion that may happen later on. "He has said that there aren't many of our kind here on earth, they belong in another world that is belonged to our grandfather....I wonder if we'll meet him one day." Added Cerise. She didn't sound very hopeful on meeting their grandfather, Azazel, if he wasn't around now, then there wasn't a chance that he'd show up later when they were older. Talk about many holes in the family who didn't even what to meet them. Perhaps Kurt was just fine with his wife here and his two kids, make that a third one, now!
"Oh yeah I guess I didn't realize that there might be another x-Mansion also. It's kind of odd to me to think about different realities. There might even be a different me." Cerise said feeling a bit dumb and silly on that on. "I suppose we've all got our powers and gained them from someone in the family...I honestly thought of taking up swordsmanship like my mom. She's really good at it...and deadly too." She added as she thought about it. No one would possibly run into her mother. However, the reason how Kurt and her mother met was still unknown. Perhaps they had many things in common, or they were different? Cerise had never once asked her mother why they got together in the first place. Or, it's better of being left alone and unsaid for now.
"Least I'd rather run into a wall rather than blow it up." Talia couldn't help cringing as she recalled her other powers that had popped up when puberty hit. "When I was first discovering my energy-based abilities I remember my first hex-bolt blew up a portion of the wall at the mansion. I startled so many students and made the staff on edge until they realized it was me, things just sorta went haywire for a while after that." Talia was actually laughing slightly towards the end as they had slowly discovered what she could do. "I even remember this one time when I was angry with someone at the school I discovered I could take over someone's body for a while and make them do things against their will. I hate doing it unless needed, but that time she so deserved it."
The mention of their family and their kind made Talia nod, her laughing dying down to soft chuckles. "Our families both seem complicated Cerise. I don't know much about your own mother, but I know my own mother's side is...difficult. Magneto isn't exactly known for the best reputation and my mother and uncle always had to struggle, so to say the least family complications are nothing new." She agreed, sometimes wondering how their family functioned without an all out war breaking out at times. It seemed so complex at times and she sometimes found herself getting a headache trying to keep track of all those connections.
There was some irony though in Cerise mentioning not knowing there were other realities, Talia herself having once felt that way until she was snatched away to join the Exiles. "Multiple realities are real Cerise, sometimes they aren't exactly as pretty as this one or my own." Talia frowned, recalling how she had wound up in an unfortunate accident that had landed her here, subconsciously resting her hands on her stomach as she thought of the man she had loved. "But that's...a tale for another time." She spoke, quickly hiding her sorrow behind a chipper attitude as she grinned. "And maybe I can teach you some stuff about swordsmanship. Dad taught me since I was young, so I know a thing or two myself."
"Oh man that must've been bad if you were being looked after very cautiously I'd feel really guilty if I had done something like that." Cerise said knowing she didn't appear to be a dangerous one on the team. Cerise liked being left by herself and also being in a quiet place too. However she wondered if the swordsmanship might be a good cause for her and help her out with overcoming this shyness, it was a good theory that she had. "And taking over someone's body? That's scary!" Cerise said with another shutter this one probably was way worse as she listened. The thought of being controlled by someone else really terrified her.
"Yes I've heard of Magneto at least through stories I've never actually met him and I don't want too." Cerise added knowing there were plenty of good and bad stories of the X-Men and their complicated past. Some of the X-Men became rather famous in their time and Cerise wondered when their time would come for it on the X-Men. However, she had a feeling that TJ and Nocturne would have a better chance than she would in the long run. She'd probably remain behind the shadows, doing things on the sidelines, even if there was some encouragement that would't change Cerise's habits any time soon.
"I understand." She added with a soft nod. "I'd like that, Talia, whenever you're ready for it I'm up for it." She said with a soft smile however Cerise was a bit young for understanding what it was like to have a family and seemed to dismiss what Talia was doing. She may figure it out but it would probably be later on down the road. For now, she was innocent and carefree, perhaps that was what Nightcrawler wanted his family to have in this realm.
Perhaps their views on the matter of powers was quite different than Talia had realized, her smile quickly fading when she realized Cerise seemed rather scared. Maybe even unnerved by the prospect of her powers being violent. "Sometimes powers are just that way when they start out Cerise, it's how you use them is what's important. Luckily, I had good people to better temper those powers and use them in a more proper, helpful way rather than destructive." Talia soothed, hoping to ease her sister's fears and concerns but could understand her reluctance on the mind switching part.
Talia herself wasn't exactly quick to use it often, especially since it took so much out of her. "He started to calm down where I'm from, and well he is kinda my grandfather so I had to treat him with some level of decency." Talia explained but could only shrug. "I don't know about here unfortunately. Perhaps one day I'd like to see him in action, but not directly." She admitted, part of her wanting to know her family in this dimension but somewhat hesitant for them to know the truth of who she really was compared to just those here. But it was something she tried to shake off for the time being.
She gave a soft nod though, seeing it better to perhaps allow Cerise to grow more before she decided to explain anything of her adventures with the Exiles. Fact of the matter was, a lot of those trips had been horrible, bloody, and violent, some things that Cerise didn't seem so keen on. "One day." Talia promised.
"That's good. It sounds like a lot of people on the X-Men had that problem too." Cerise said having heard plenty of stories from her father and mother how other X-Men had struggled with their powers in life and also with their identity. It was clear staying at the institute may have been the best choice for Cerise. Not to mention she wasn't sure how other humans would react towards her neyaphem side. She hadn't exactly gone out into that part of the world just yet and was nervous just lie anything else.
"I've never heard my father mention him, either he doesn't like his father or he's a mystery even to him." Cerise pointed out wondering why their grandfather never showed up. Perhaps he could't. However she wouldn't dwell on that problem that much. If he did show his face, Cerise and probably many others would indeed be very surprised.
"Hm I wonder." Cerise said as she looked up from where she had been crouching a bit. She closed her orange eyes a bit as she tried to focus on her powers. Suddenly there was a loud pop sound as Cerise tried to disappear again using her teleportation powers and this time appeared again on top of a nearby branch on a tree that she had climbed on in the past without a problem. She grabbed a hold but found herself nearly falling as her tail grabbed it. She swayed a bit before correcting herself again. "The teleportation part was at least better that time, landing not so much." She said looking a bit dizzy from her almost near fall but she scrambled back up to the tree rather fast before she did land on her back. She frowned a bit hoping that she hadn't scared her half sister too much.
"Most of the greats started somewhere Cerise, not everyone learns their powers almost immediately." Talia told her, hoping maybe that might of some further comfort. She knew that many veteran X-men were far from ever being fully in control and many of them had faced problems with their powers well into adulthood. "Even my powers aren't exactly mastered yet, some of them I am still getting completely under control, or I rarely use them." She admitted, mainly due to the fact she felt more comfortable with some powers than others, such as her physical mutations and the use of her hex-bolts. Those she knew for a fact she could control without problem.
Though she was a bit surprised Cerise had not heard about Azazel, having heard of him from her own father. But perhaps Nightcrawler of this universe was waiting for a right time to tell his youngest daughter. Before Talia could suggest she tell her she watched her half sister focusing, obviously getting ready to do something. So, she remained quiet and patient. With a familiar "bamph" sound, Cerise was gone and the older of the two caught the familiar smell of brimstone she had smelled from her father's teleports and her energy attacks.
Glancing around, Talia tried to figure out where her sister was going to appear before finally hearing another pop. Above she saw Cerise but quickly was on her feet when her sister momentarily lost her balance, "That was definitely better Cerise!" She praised before quickly climbing up to a branch close to the one the younger Wagner currently was perched on. "Maybe one of these days I can show you how my powers work." Talia offered knowing she couldn't exactly perform her own powers without having a target or allowing someone else to participate in a mind possession session. That was one power she didn't exactly like using unless necessary and at the moment she wasn't all for giving her sister a look due to the nature of what it did.
"I guess you're right Talia, I guess I'm not alone either." Cerise said with a soft nod. It sounded like the X-men had struggled with her powers, and that made her feel a bit better. Perhaps it made her feel like she wasn't going to be rushed or even feel left out. When she was ready she would be able to help out the others in healing or find some other way to do it, Cerise was not sure if she wanted to do fights or anything since that wasn't her type of thing.
As Cerise rested on the tree branch smiled, "I've climbed this tree many times before in the past, so I think it was something I was confident in, except for the loss of balance right there." She said with a soft shrug knowing it could happen to anyone. "Also I think shorter distances might be better than longer ones.I couldn't go to New York City and back without getting lost." She said with a bit more confidence in her words. She listened to Talia speak about her powers, it sounded a little scary but interesting at the same time too. She understood why Talia wasn't always a fan of her powers.
"When you're ready Talia, I'd be curious to see your powers. It doesn't have to be now though." She added looking down at her half sister. "Say do you want to hang out after school today? I have classes at around 3:00pm but after that I should be open after dinner." Cerise asked hoping that her sister would be up for it. Cerise was excited but she understood if she had other important things to do.
"You'll figure out your place on the team in time Cerise, no one is going to force you into a role you're not ready for or trained to do." Talia told her before smiling reassuringly, "If someone does, they'll have to answer to me." Perhaps Cerise was only her half-sister, and someday she may not be able to be there but for the time she would be here she would do everything in her power to help and protect her family. Alternate family or not, one thing her and her father had agreed on was that family was everything, and the X-men were her family but so was her blood family, who she trusted without a single doubt in her mind.
"YEa, starting out small distances may be best until you improve." Talia said with a nod, knowing their father could teleport up to two miles, maybe more if he pushed himself. "I think we all take those baby steps until we're truly confident in how far we can take things." Talia told her, knowing that baby steps in life were sometimes the way to go. It certainly was a lesson worth learning and she could only smile once more. "And if you're worried about your appearance by the way, I recommend asking about an image inducer. Dad and I have gone through the same process, but I learned to not mind my appearance over time, maybe more than he has. It might help too if you end up teleporting to town." There was one thing Talia had been considering, knowing she too had been awkward and self-conscious about her appearance when going into public.
Talia though considered what she was doing that day. Not a lot really, a lot of her plans had pretty much been wiped clean the moment she ended up stuck here, so she had little to do for the time being. "I have to stop by the infirmary here soon, but after I'm pretty much free Cerise, so sure." She answered, more than happy to hang out with her younger sister and to get to know her.
"Thanks Talia and I'm sure they'd have to go through TJ too, he's like a protective big brother to me." She said with a soft smile back towards Talia as she felt a bit better. She clung to the branch pretty well having been able to climb up and perch on things from a young age so that came naturally to her unlike her teleportation powers. Perhaps those would come with time and also take baby steps which was what Talia had said also. Cerise perhaps saw Talia being a big mentor towards her in the future and also being a friend too.
"I'll consider the image inducer, I know my appearance scares some people sometimes, but I really am pretty much harmless unless you strike a nerve." Cerise said having remembered she accidently blasted something with her dark manipulation powers. Also they were powers that she hadn't exactly explored yet, and like her teleportation powers those would come in over time and she'd be able to develop them some more. As she heard Talia agreeing for meeting up later, she wondered if she should mention those powers towards her sister. However she decided to maybe wait on it and focus on her teleportation powers first.
"Ok I'll see you around, Talia. I've gotta go gather up my things for my next class, I've got geometry and math class...never really liked those subjects all that much." Cerise said with a soft shrug as she began to bound off towards her room which was on one of the floors where the females were quartered. Apparently there was a good idea of seperating the girls and the boys in this situation so the drama and partying could be kept at a medium. But who knew how bad things could get on the weekend.
Ooc: Heay Koryn want to do a time skip so the two meet up again? I feel like we could do more for them.
