Sam really wasn't sure about this mission, Fury didn't give him much of an idea on what was going on besides something that had happened recently. This girl had some sort of problem down in a new york suburban area and he was supposed to find her and bring her back. Sounded simple right? Sam could only hope so as a blue blast of light followed behind him as he flew down towards the designated area, it only took him half an hour to get there from where SHIELD was stationed not far from New York City down town area. Sam felt like New York was a second home to him besides being in Arizona where the desert was always hot.
The sun was high in the sky as it was about half way through the afternoon, it may have been close to 2 or 3 o' clock as far as he could tell. The day consisted mostly of training and dealing with the usual normal boring things, until Fury asked him to go on this mission. Why? He never understood the guy but apparently it was serious enough to take on another older SHIELD agent to get there.
"So look for a kid with blue hair? That doesn't sound to hard." He said as he flew down into an empty lot where no one would see the space hero as he took off his helmet with a familiar swoosh he was back into his regular civilian clothing. It was a such an easy way to remove his costume without even thinking about it.
He placed his helmet in a backpack as he hurried along down one of the roads trying to find the number of the house that the girl that it belonged too. What was her name again? Looking at his SHIElD watch that held his information in it, he saw that her name was Ryuka Kyoshi. It was a unique name, finally he found the house number as he rang the doorbell. He began to question himself, would they slam the door in his face like other houses had done in the past? They probably wouldn't believe him. But the helmet might've been a key for this explaining thing, but that would also be relieving his super hero side too. But he was told to use that at the last resort. "Hello?" He said trying to sound rather mature like, but it probably didn't pass one bit as he cleared his throat ready for anything.
Unlike the usual grief, an older man opened the door enough to step out, something about his hair shifting so it seemed like it was closer to brownish red than the bright red it had been as he poked his head around the door. A smile on his face "ello we've been expecting you actually". As the man spoke he seemed to try to talk over some sort of mild scuffle going on in the house. Intermixed with some decidedly non-human noises; including a coughed out hooting bark like the raptors of Jurassic Park. Surprisingly answered by a woman's voice "OH! Young Lady your father and I taught you better than to use such language!".
The man facepalmed stifling a snorted laugh "m'daughter actually just found out the ah...surprising way she's like me n her mum, Mutants n all". Now the noises lessened to a hissed out noise as the woman's voice turned cajoling "we only 'lied' about us being mutants so long to try and keep you safe if your own x gene hadn't triggered, we weren't trying to hurt you". Outside meanwhile the father finally introduced himself "name's Kincaid Kyoshi, thought it was better t'take my wife's name than make her take mine". Then he knocked on the window "ey is the young'n calmer? don't want her scaring the guest".
The adult female's voice grew as she neared the door then opened a window "yes dear, but our guest should know she's still a bit ragged is all". Then the short Japanese woman smiled at Sam "oh! hello dearie, wait a few moments before following my husband in would you?". Followed by her shutting the window and drawing the curtains once more. But not in time to hide a strange 'flash' of what looked like...blue fur?. Regardless after the requested 'few moments' once Sam did enter the house he'd find out why they had some very dense curtains up. In the form of three serpentine -dragons- in the living room. One with a white main color and blue underside with a foxlike face and flowing tendril-like whiskers. Another slightly larger that was colored more like a red fox, and an undoubtedly younger specimen that was blue with a frostwhite underside.
Perhaps the most surprising of all would be the fact that the two flanking the smallest one were able to speak. Shown when the 'red fox' spoke up with the same voice as the man who'd answered the door first "please don't panic, we're just a family of mutants tryin' t'live peacefully; but our daughter needs a place to stay where she won't suddenly give the city a heart attack again, and possibly get herself targeted".
Followed by the paler dragon speaking in the mother's voice, though where her husband's tones sounded like they were underscored with a crackling fire. Her voice was cool and calming as a gentle winter breeze "while my dear husband and I made the choice to not raise a hand against anyone unless positively needed. We respect our daughter's views on life and her proactive stance as a defender of those who cannot defend themselves". The blue creature in between the two shifters opened her maw as well, possibly in an attempt to speak. Only to comically clap her forepaws over her muzzle when all that came out of her mouth was a thin stream of water. Leaving her parents facepalming with their own front paws as they tried not to laugh at the youngster's fail. However it did leave them not noticing the child they wanted to get help for 'hop skitter' like an oversized ferret at Sam. Before proceeding to snuffle all over him as if trying to find food.
"I was actually let in? I am surprised that Mr. Fury actually told you guys about me coming." Sam said knowing he half left him in the dark as always. They actually let him in like that? He was half surprised and half relieved as he heard some unusual noises going on in the other side of the house. It sounded like odd growling or raspy voice talking but Sam knew that he would need his helmet to translate...not yet not now anyways. "Heay!" He realized what had happened before it was too late as the female dragon came over and began to look around for food, which he had brought none of with him at the moment. In fact he figured this might take an hour or two, any snacks would be back on the hellicarrier.
The helmet dropped on the floor as the familiar four pointed star could be seen on it. Sam of course was very protective of his helmet since it belonged to his dad. It had been with him for awhile...but now that he found his father he couldn't be happier that his family was back to gether. "Heay...try to be a little bit careful with that...but I guess the jig is up. I thought coming as a human wouldn't stir up that much attention." Sam said as he took his helmet as he put it on his head his costume reappeared before them. "That's a little bit better."
"I don't know if my superior told you why I'm here exactly but I came to pick Ryuka up for some recruitment on SHIELD where I am. I'm a senior officer and have been there for awhile...I go by Nova there." Sam said knowing his own code name had been taken by the older Nova Richard Rider, not to confuse the two. Though he wasn't sure what Rider had been up too, for all he knew the older hero probably retired. "So are you up for it or what? And don't worry I can understand your dragon tongue." He said putting a gloved out stretched arm for Ryuka to sniff figuring it might be like a cat or a dog? He had never been this close to a dragon before.
The father chuckled even as his form faded back to 'human' with his outfit in place "we didn't know -you- specifically were comin' but we actually asked Fury fer help". His wife nodded as she too reverted, laughing quietly at her daughter's startled reaction to the helmet dropping "and it would be a bit hypocritical of us to only tolerate the 'agents' in suits but not the others associated with Shield would it not?". The kindly woman waved a hand between herself her husband and their daughter "I mean, clearly we are just as unique as you are young Nova".
Meanwhile; much like a startled cat Ryuka had tried to make herself 'bigger' by fuzzing out at the helmet as its sudden appearance startled her. Followed by skittering back a few paces from Sam as he picked it up, making an offended noise at him for thinking she meant to break it. Though his question directed at her made the youngster headtilt before hissing out you mean I get to be a hero and help more than just kids gettin' bullied in school!?. Before turning her long neck toward her parents with a series of rather excited noises Ok I forgive you both for hiding what we really are from me all this time if it means I get to learn how to help people with these new powers...without scaring anymore kids...I hope.
Though she soon looked back at Sam, his hand out as one ear twitched while she made a soft sort of warble noise Dude...not a dog, I sniffed you before because I thought ya had snacks then realized you smelled like the suited people that used to visit mom n dad before we moved. This time her dad utterly lost his ability to keep a straight face as he busted out laughing "m'lil girl finally gains her dragon form and first thing she does is try to use her sense of smell to find food!?". Only to shut his yap when his wife spoke up "this from the one who found where I hid his irish whiskey so he wouldn't be completely hosed on the day of his daughter's Art Show; by the same method he just teased his little girl for". After a beat or two the man, while shuffling his feet like a kid caught out in a fib "oi I only drank a teeny bit before the art show at her school...so I behaved dangit...".
Now it was Ryuka's turn to face palm in an odd config due to her short legs before she warbled Yes I'd like to join SHIELD if my excitement wasn't obvious.

"Not everyone wears suits on the SHIELD team to be honest there are some super heroes working with SHIELD too." Sam said knowing that not everyone liked SHIELD for that matter and he couldn't blame them. He knew of the Web Warriors but perhaps that wasn't their place on finding Ryuka. She probably would've been even more startled seeing that half the team had spider powers in it had come and tried to get her. So maybe it was a good idea for once for Fury to send someone who was at least a bit average looking.
Sam's helmet quickly translated Ryuka's words for her, he had done this before with other aliens that he had encountered. Though mentioning that might've freaked them out. Having a guy who goes into space rather frequently when he wasn't working for SHIELD might just surprise just about anyone. For now, Ryuka's body on his helmet looked like it had a faint outline of a white figure standing for neutral. The enemies were in read, while allies were in blue suppose that was helpful in bad situations. "Yes you're right with that one, SHIELD trains agents young and new alike. I was once in your shoes when they found me in my own home town." Sam admitted. "And don't worry about scaring anyone there are a lot of unique people on SHIELD so don't worry about that. Heck they made a team full of spider powered members in it." Sam admitted wondering if he had said too much. Well it wasn't new information the Web Warriors were known by now, at least Fury wouldn't have to worry about Sam spilling any secrets that were really important.
"Heay I've never been this close to a dragon before. Most of the animals that I've seen are dogs or cats." Sam admitted not wanting to talk about his fear of rabbits. Just bury that under a rug for now. Some probably thought it was funny but he honestly believed he had been traumatized at a young age by a rabbit for some reason or another. "If your sense of smell is that good I bet you can figure out where Fury hides his snacks in his office." Sam said as he came down to a low whisper for Ryuka only to hear. Even a spy would be pretty good at hiding something like that as he let out a bit of a laugh about the drinking.
"I can fly you to SHIELD if you want. If I did that we'd be there in an hour, in New York Traffic it'd probably be doubled if we went on the subway or drove there." Sam offered. "Just try not to move too much ok? I almost dropped the last person who wriggled around in my arms." He admitted knowing he felt bad but even with his strength and speed he had lost concentration so at fault it had been the civilian who had done it.
Ryuka's parents chuckled as she perked up, both adults smiling at Sam "could we follow? its dark out so not like we'd be easy to spot". Her mother smiled warmly at Ryuka "besides we need to show our little one how to revert forms and that would be easier in her training place". Ryuka snorted playfully I can hang onto your shoulders, flying sounds fun!. As she 'spoke' the youngest dragonkin hopped in place before startling herself thanks to hovering a handspan off the ground.
Resulting in her mother muffling her giggles under her hand and her father trying to hide it by shifting back to his own dragon form. Though Ryuka trying to 'grab' for the floor; and only being able to aerial tumble caused him to lose the battle with the giggle fits. Gaining a whined out reply from his kid Daaaaaaad this isn't -funny- dangit!. To save herself from adding to her daughter's embarassment her mom bustled to her room and packed some clothing and other things Ryuka would have wanted. Such as a computer to keep in touch with her family. While Ryuka was still slightly stuck hovering she had focused back on the idea of the kids Sam mentioned growling softly anyway...it is nice to know I won't be the only kid wherever we're going.
Ryuka's mother lifted up the backpack and suitcase "I packed some useful things for Ryuka in these, as well as your gaming toys don't worry". The mother smiled at her daughter "and your computer so we can keep in contact". With that, the mother too changed back to her dragonshape. Both adults turning to look at Sam "well young Nova, we'll follow you yes?, and mind your claws on him Ryuka".
"Yeah you're talking to a nova force user who lights up the sky like a comet would." Sam said referring to the part of "not being easy to spot part" if he wanted stealth he was going to have to find some other way of doing that part. But he nodded towards them to say yes, "Yes you guys can come with me to the hellicarrier it really is hard to miss in New York being that's where they've been stationed recently." Sam said knowing he had it placed on his helmet hud so it would be an easy target for him to land on.
"Well between you and me I'm actually 25 but I think Fury and the others sometimes still see me as a kid. So to you I'm a senior agent." Sam explained. "Still I think Fury sees that I can probably understand and handle kids since I was a kid myself some time ago." He added giving Ryuka a wink but he would've sided with Ryuka anyways being that the parent sometimes were embarrassing towards the kids. Sam had it with his mom and dad when they were raising him and it was no doubt here.
"And yes you can fly on my shoulders, I do agree with your parents though try not to rip up my shoulders. I may be a Nova but I don't have healing properties like some super heroes do." Sam pointed out knowing he could still get injured like others. But some didn't know that he was half Xandrian from his father's side. "That reminds me." He said realizing something, "Being that you guys are on the hellicarrier you can meet my father if you want. He was a Nova before me, but I think he's retired now, his name is Jesse Alexander." Sam pointed out as he was ready to hang onto Ryuka his body lit up a bright blue showing his Nova force was working. It of course required a lot of focus from Sam and Ryuka could see it first hand how he did things up close. "That is if you want too." He offere
