David was beginning to think he hadn't though through this whole "let me go out and play superhero" thing through. Sure, he had the suit, but had he ever thought of actually doing combat training? Well the answer was painfully obvious as the green and chrome colored armored teen was trying, rather badly to fight off a group of gang members.
Yeah, it wasn't a good sign when he had two arm blades out, and they were able to whack him hard with pipes. "Give up yet? Iron Pipsqueek?" One of them jeered as David pulled himself to his feet.
Stretching a bit, he prepared to attempt another charge, his blades poised and ready to strike. "It's IRON BLADE," he chided, and then added. "And are you kidding me? I'm just getting started!"
He charged again, swinging one blade, this time managing to slash one of the gang members across the chest... And piss him off royally. Slam! Had one of them whacked him in the helmet? Again, ow!
This was definitely not going as well as he had hoped.
Tony sighed as he sat back in one of his chairs for one of those "Rare day's off" But as he did Jarvis jolted him awake in his seat with a warning message, "Sir there is some gun violence being reported in down town New York. I suggest you take a look at it." The AI spoke up as Tony sighed not really wanting to go but he had no choice. "Jarvis can you bring up some footage of it?" Tony asked as he saw that someone was fending off the gun fighters, in fact it looked like a...well not so good job.
"Well if anything maybe I can help out this rookie wanna be hero before he is put to shame." Tony said knowing new heroes were popping up everywhere, this was probably no different. Tony got up from his seat as he walked over to a metallic looking suitcase. The armor folded around Tony after it sprung to life as Tony quickly became Ironman and his shiny armor took place in a matter of minutes. "Alright let's get too it." He said as the window opened and Tony flew out towards where the gun fighting was happening.
He was within view of the gun fighters as he sent out a sharp repulsor blast towards them as if to scare them off. "Heay there kid looks like you could use a little bit of help. Although my question is why these fools decided to pick a fight in our beloved city." Tony said as his arms were glowing a deep blue he was ready to radiate another repulsor blast, not to hurt them for the most part, but to scare them. They looked pretty low level he was just glad it wasn't something like A.I.M. or Hydra for that matter.
David wasn't really sure at first as he rubbed his helmet, the closest he could get to his head. But when he'd finally gotten his bearings it definitely was not what he was expecting.
It was frickin' Iron Man.
A number of things ran through his mind. The least of which was the fact he really hoped Tony didn't recognize the armor schematics his father had stolen. But mostly he was literally having an aneurism on the fact Iron Man had shown up. After all, he'd never imagined in a million years he'd be in the presence of... "Holy crap! You're him! The real deal!" David practically shouted. "Oh my god, after this, I need a selfie or something-."
He turned just in enough time to see one of the gang members that had more balls to come running up to him. This time however, David had added motivation - like hell he was going to sit here and get his butt kicked in front of the hero that had literally inspired this journey in the first place!
So he immediately brought out his wrist guns. "I mean, uh, thanks for the save Iron Man! I totally planned that, yeah," he said before firing rapid shots off at the gang member who now looked a bit more scared. Though David's aim was far from perfect as he rushed forward and swung his blade at his feet, knocking him off them. "Come on anybody else want some-!?"
Of course, when he'd turned it was obvious these guys were far more scared of Iron Man being in the room. Since they had turned tail and ran. "Hey! Get back here! I was just getting a handle on this!" He lied, again, trying to at least appear somewhat as good as he wanted to look.
"Heay kid focus this isn't the time to be a fan boy or girl for that matter." Tony said half guessing on who the kid was who he had been fighting with. "That's one of the first rules of being a super hero you need to focus and if you loose sight everything else might as well forget it." Tony said seeing that David was having some trouble with this, it was clear he was new but he was trying and Tony liked that part of his enthusiasm.
Tony watched for a bit as he saw that the thugs finally left and dispursed from the area. He was glad tos ee that no one got hurt and as well as this ended quickly before it got worse. Finally that was when he landed not far from where David was, or as his name went Iron Blade. That was when Tony noticed the armor it had a hint of familiarity about it as he raised an eye behind his mask.
"I hope you weren't a kid who is trying to steal my stuff and make a profit out of it. I hate those type of fools." tony said with a serious attitude but it quickly changed, "However from the looks of things...you're different than those thugs, you're actually trying to be a hero." Tony said as he half expected to hear an interesting story on how David got the tech it looked far too advanced for some kid to have lying around. Unless that is he had helped acquiring it. He was also on guard in case any of those thugs came back he had Jarvis scanning the area for any heat signatures that he picked up and so far the area was clear.
David's eyes bulged, crap he had recognized the design.
"Whoa! Whoa! No! It's totally not like that. Crap, let me explain, it gets hot in here fast," David carefully removed his helmet as best he could and pushed back his hair a bit. "I uh... It's a long story. It is your design, but I made this armor myself - from scratch. It took me five years but it's all mine. It's not even half as good as yours. You can look at it. Cheapest parts I could find. But you know, had to make up for the cash. I'm a genius, but I'm no multi-billionaire."
He chuckled a bit. "I'm not exactly proud of how I got my hands on some of the parts or skematics. But sometimes when you're on a mission, you don't have a choice," he explained - not exactly wanting to reveal his connection to someone Iron Man had literally fought just yet. More than a little afraid of how he'd react. "And I haven't figured some stuff out. Like it hasn't got an AI, and I can't fly. But I have plans for a Mark II through IV at this point... So I'm getting there just gonna uh... Take time."
He swallowed a bit, realizing the rambling he'd just done.
"Kid I trust you, you don't have to go on a rambling talk I hear enough from that from the daily news reporters and as well as other companies that I talk with." Tony explained as he put up a hand but it was clear that the repulsors had been deactivated as he looked at the armor itself. He didn't need to inspect it, some of the armor had his work in it but it was clear David wasn't proud of what had happened and how he got it. Maybe he just realized that this kid was trying to do some good in the world, clearly he had made an attempt here fighting the bad guys that were running around here moments ago.
"Look kid I am having second thoughts, if I wanted too I could've had someone toss you in jail for stealing, as simple as that. But I am letting you off the hook this time, you are clearly trying to do some good here just the way I saw you fighting when I arrived. However if you do something bad or try to sway towards the evil side I will probably be back for my tech just keep that as a fair warning. Last thing I need is Hydra, or even the Dark Avengers getting Stark Tech. You understand that?" Tony asked as he saw the kid hoping he'd at least have half of an understanding of what he meant. he was walking on thin ice, but he also wanted the kid to understand that having his armor and powers for that matter was a privilege and privileges can be taken a way too.
David paused a moment, nodding his head a little. So he was actually going to let him keep it? Sweet! A small grin formed on his face, but after a moment it faded as Iron Man mentioned that. Should he come clean? Tell the man the truth about where he got the schematics in the first place?
David decided that if he was going to be any kind of hero, he had to be honest.
So he opened up a small part of his "utility belt" that held the original skematics that he'd stolen from his dad. "I uh... Then full disclosure these are technically yours... They used to be in bad hands. My dad, I don't even know if you remember him. Fought him before I was born," he explained. "Michael Palmer. He uh, stole some of the suit skematics but he burned most of them when he wouldn't work. This was the one I saved."
He then added, honestly. "Don't worry though. I uh, haven't given it to anyone. That was my only copy and I ducked out on my "parents" a long time ago," he explained. "Plus I got all I need from it. I'm blueprinting my own for my upgrades. So I figure while I've got you I might as well make sure it goes back into good hands."
"The name does sound familiar I have had so many names pop up again and again it's hard to remember who on occasions, I hope you understand." Tony pointed out. As he listened to David speak up he explained how he had taken them not once but twice, from Micheal Palmer and then took them from his father, this would at least wind up in the right hands. "Good then I hope they stay that way. Don't let anyone try to trick you into giving them up. Stark Tech has a unique history of being stolen again and again even my father knew about that type of stuff happening a long time ago. So I hope you understand why I was so up tight about it at first." Tony explained knowing that stealing was as always against the laws.
"Well since I did come out all this way, why don't we see to check that the area is really indeed clean? I asked Jarvis to scan the area of any body temperatures and so far he hasn't found anything. Of course that doesn't mean that there are some hiding in nearby buildings and out of sight. What do you say for a little team up kid? And remember to focus." Tony pointed out hoping the kid could take up the offer. Maybe this could give him a little bit more inspiration of being a hero and Tony could aid him even if it was just a tiny bit. He figured of those thugs were smart they would've left and run off now.
”Trust me, I understand. Wish I could forget him myself, last I heard he and Mom are back in jail. Hope it stays that way this time,” It was clear there was a lot of anger there - still held in regard to the people who had made his life a living hell. Even if he hadn’t seen them in five years. “Yeah, hopefully that never happens. That’s part of why I’m even doing this to keep people like my dad off the streets.
David’s head shot up at the thought of a team-up. A real team up? With THE Iron Man. He mentally pinched himself in hopes this wasn’t some lucid dream he was having. As a kid from the streets who wanted to be like the man of iron himself this was a dream. “Hell yeah! I mean uh, yeah... Sounds cool. I think my youth shelter doesn’t close up for another six hours so I got time.”
Of course by playing it cool - he realized he had given away his actual status at the moment. Something her didn’t do often, but frankly being in the presence of Iron Man was making him a rambling mess as he pulled his helmet on. He really needed to stop that before this guy threw him in with CPS not that other people hadn’t already tried and failed.
"Well perhaps it's a good thing they're in jail since they were doing criminal activity. What goes around comes around." Tony pointed out as he listened to David as he spoke up about his parents. That was one of those lucky ones where David didn't wind up just like his family he was actually trying to do some good in the world for a change. "Hm I trust you but remember one strike you're out rule." Tony said knowing he had his reasons why for doing that.
"Hm Hm we should be done by that. And Kid I knew you were a kid just by a couple of things already by your talk and fans idolizing of me, and as well as your height, you don't seem like you're an adult with yours just yet." Tony pointed out by the observations he had made and just about anyone could've seen that at least. "But don't take it lightly we still have work to do." Tony said as he began to start heading down one of the alley ways trying to see if someone was there. "Sir on your left!" Jarvis called out as he heard gun fire nearly missing his armor.
That was when Tony reacted using his armor to be a Shield towards Davis since he knew his armor wasn't invincible, "kid look out!" He called out before Tony sent a blast of his repulsor weapons from his hands again sending walls crumbling down around the guy. Tony wasn't one for killing but he knew that the walls falling and crumbling would've probably scared him or even made him run away at this point, and he probably wasn't alone either.
David nodded his head slowly, listening to what Tony had to say. “They definitely did. Considering all I ever got from them is a look at why not to do drugs and several bruises,” he half-muttered, again sounding unhappy about it. Though his second statement definitely got his attention. “Oh, heh, that obvious? I guess I’m kind of young to be doing this but-“
He stopped as soon as the bullets rang out. Quick on his feet enough to dodge and prep his own wrist mounted guns. “Holy crap! Where did that guy come from?” Of course ask and though shall find answers, as nearly a second later he noticed a group of others taking his place. “Oh look, he brought friends to the party. I always hated parties.”
Perhaps a little too eager to impress his idol, he charged in. Letting his blades come out, and firing off several shots for the other gunmen without a second thought.
"I hate these kind of parties anyways. It's a barrage of bullets and gun fire once again. I think we startled them but they're onto us now." Tony pointed out knowing they probably retreated further into the concrete jungle that was New York City. There were plenty of places to hide but luckily it looked like most humans who were smart enough steered clear from the area to make sure they wouldn't get caught in the fight. Tony could see what David was doing and for once he had to admit that did help as two of the gun men collapsed.
He had to be focused on his own job as he sent out two blasts of repulsor once more at the man who managed to survive the falling walls and this one did it. It probably didn't kill him but it knocked him out cold for now. Another one was on his flank as Tony saw him pick it up on his helmet mask. He turned around and blasted the gun man probably before he knew what happened. "Well that's four, heaven only knows how many people are still here." Tony said as he remained ready to see if any others would show himself. Tony wasn't that concerned since his armor was riddled with bullets, even if it managed to go deep enough there might be some chance of him surviving due to his metallic colored skin known as the extremis virus. "Four down and who knows how many left. Even I can't estimate that." Tony pointed out knowing it was only a guessing game.
