Valrulfur Garmspawn
PERSONALITY At one point many would know Valrulfur to have been an Asgardian full of honor and chivalry. He was always willing to help his fellow Asgardians or those who were visiting guests, treating everyone with the upmost respect and care to the point he became quite popular as a palace guard. He was quite dedicated to his position, being protective and dedicated to the protection of his home, the ruling family, and the citizens to the point he could at times go overboard and overwork himself to exhaustion. Many felt he pushed himself too much but Val always dismissed these and was always careful to make sure he was at his best in training and combat to better protect his home. He was a noble, kind, and charming Asgardian once known as Foreseti who had a bright future ahead of him. Now, the man that once was is relatively gone. Val has little traces of his former personality save for still being chilvalrious, protective, and cares for some form of honor and justice. But for the most part he has taken on a more darker, moodier personality that is completely the opposite of what he once was. He is angrier, more feral, and will go to whatever lengths he needs to do to get something done and often his remaining personality of Forseti is pushed aside to make way for his current attitude. He prefers being alone and rebuffs the attempts of others to become friends, seeing no need for it when he knows most times his job disgusts others and tends to be quite horrifying. Val has become harsher, more negative, and tends to have an air of hopelessness that hangs around him and tends to affect most others' bright moods. Val could also be considered far more serious and no longer the youthful young man he once was. He no longer finds much humor in things and when he does it is a dry sense and can be slightly disturbing, showing a warped sense of view that would make most stare in shock. He finds himself most at peace in combat and traveling or having something to do, and actually can be mostly calm and level headed but tends to have a shorter fuse than most and isn't above showing that annoyance. Val's anger is equal to that of a wild animal and he tends to not mind being reckless, if even charging head first into problems rather than think them through much to the annoyance of those he knows. But Val also does show a hint of his former self in admiration and respect for the warrior spirited types or those who show being able to hold their own and does have a faint concern for those too weak to protect themselves. HISTORY The first hundred years of Valrulfur's life was probably some of the best he ever had. Born Forseti Eriksson to Eric Ferason and an unknown mother in Asgard his life was relatively normal when it came to Asgardian standards. He was healthy, happy, and had the heart and soul of a true warrior, something his parents noticed and took great pride in feeling he would one day make a true name for himself. Nobility, honor, and justice was everything to Valrulfur's family and something he would be raised on as he grew older and began to train with his father in the ways of Asgardian ways and fighting. And as expected he took to being a warrior as naturally as breathing. In fact, at a young age he was put into a training camp to be trained as one of the palace guards, something he looked forward to and felt it was the greatest honor for his family. He trained night and day during those years, becoming quite handy with a sword, axe, and spear as his weapons of choice but felt more at home with a battle axe of which he decided to make his weapon of choice when it came time for more advanced training. Those years of hard work, dedication, and patience eventually landed Valrulfur into a position as a guard but he earned a reputation for his charm, respect, and dedication along with being one of the few guards not to be decked in full palace guard attire, finding the armor restricting and heavy, uncomfortable even. With some convincing with his lieutenant Valrulfur was given permission to go with what he felt comfortable with and traditionally went with just enough armor to protect vital areas but less so than most others. From then on, Valrulfur became a dedicated guard, often going from different post to post to cover his bases and would spend his free time either training or spending time with his parents whom he always could see were proud of his progress. Aside from some of the minor threats and false alarms nothing truly eventful happened during those years in which Val was a guard until a fateful day came after his hundredth birthday would change his life forever. The Jotun frost giants made one of their many attacks on Asgard and a few were able to breech the city's walls to reach the inhabitants inside, and Valrulfur was one of those called to arms to defend the citizens of which he gladly jumped into doing. While helping to take down one giant Valrulfur heard the cry of two young children trapped in a fallen house, quickly hurrying to their aid rather then continue fighting, feeling their lives were more important and made use of his battle axe to save them. Once he broke through the rubble, Valrulfur threw his weapon to the side to get them out, but barely avoided a strike from a frost giant who swung his way causing Valrulfur to have to barely avoid losing his head. With the frightened children in hand he made a rush to get them to safety, his adrenaline pumping and having his back turned that was a fatal move on his part, several ice shards piercing his body from behind of which he ignored until the children were safe. But by then it was too late, Valrulfur could only remember feeling weak and dizzy before his body and mind went numb, feeling his body collapse while he faintly heard the cries of horror from the crowd and his vision went dark. Before he knew it. Val found himself awakening at the gates of Valhalla but before his spirit could step through its golden doors a cold sensation swept over his form and he found himself snagged into the hands of Hela. Abruptly brought to the realm of Hel, Hela sought out Forseti for his strong spirt and burning desire in what he did, feeling he was a strong candidate to become one of her agents of Death. Explaining the situation of not being able to gather or guide all the souls she needed to her realm she felt the need to make use of strong spirits such as his to bring them back and forth. She even explained that Valrulfur was not truly dead as he thought, adding to everything else and that she could make use of someone not quite dead but not quite alive. Forseti initially refused but Hela's argument that he still desired to do more than what he had done and to be a great service to his people, indicating she was still technically Asgardian as well. Seeing no fault in this argument Forseti reluctantly agreed, pledging his life and soul to Hela's services of which she in turn gave him something of a new life, taking a small portion of Garm's energies and infusing it with Forseti's into a painful transformation and dubbing him Valrulfur for his werewolf appearance he came to take. Thus, Valrulfur was sent back to Asgard, shocking those who had gathered to mourn the dead but it was more so his sudden change and the mark upon his back that gave away his new allegiance that came the most shock. But the change would soon become something of a taint on Valrulfur's former self, finding a new darkness in his soul he had never felt before and he sadly bid farewell to his home and took off into the surrounding wilderness of Asgard. With the help of Hela he would travel between dimensions, stalking those soon to die and the souls that remained on the living plane to bring to Hela unless they were brought elsewhere of which he could do nothing about. He did this for several decades before Hela felt he was capable of being trusted and allowed him to pick the realm of his choosing to continue his service at his leisure of which he chose Midgard and the remaining universe it resided. Dropped into the dimension of which Earth resided, but wound up on the planet of Battleworld where he was taken prisoner and forced to fight others for amusement. Though Valrulfur had no qualms of combat he hated fighting in the arena against his will as he felt overwhelmed by the constant visions of horrific deaths and transferring some of those souls to the Underworld, his only reprieve. But that was when Valrulfur met the members of a rebellion within Battleworld, deciding to join them in taking out the living hell of a realm. With time, planning, and many casualties, the prisoners were able to free themselves and overthrow the rulers while Val decided it was time for him to slip away. Once far enough, he was teleported to Midgard at last, where he has decided to spend some time in exploring while continuing his duties as Hela's agent. Powers Asgardian Werewolf Physiology: Valrulfur has the appearance and abilities typical of a werewolf, resembling a humanoid wolf with black fur, claws, fangs, and tail. But the difference is his appearance is magic based from Asgardian sorcery and his physiology is more on the Asgardian level than that of Earth based werewolves. +Superhuman Strength: Valrulfur's strength is beyond the natural human limit with his denser skeletal structure and musculature allowing him to lift over 40 tons without strain allowing to easily tear through most earth metals, rock, brick, stone, etc. with little effort. +Superhuman Speed: Valrulfur can move at speeds greater than the greatest human athlete being able to run at 90 mph upright and 100 mph on all fours, leaving him able to keep up with most vehicles with ease. +Superhuman Durability: Valrulfur's bodily tissue, musculature, and denser bone structure make him capable of taking hits from superhumanly strong individuals, great impact forces, and shrug off high caliber bullets. It takes a lot of force to hurt Val and he can last against most hits without visible damage. +Superhuman Stamina: Val's body produces less fatigue toxins in his body allowing him to partake in more strenuous and rigorous activities for longer periods of time. +Superhuman Agility: Val's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are above the finest human athlete, making him far more limber than most beings with his tendons and connective tissues being twice as elastic than a normal human being. +Acutely Keen Senses: Val's senses are extraordinarily acute, being able to rival that of an earth wolf's. He can hear things from roughly 4-5 miles away and smell things just as far and can distinguish a particular scent among many others. Even if the scent is a few weeks old he can still catch it and follow it while he can see with far greater clarity than most humans. He can also see in pitch darkness as good as he can see in daylight. His taste is also keen enough he can detect the slightest change in tastes and figure out something is off. +Regenerative Healing: Valrulfur's healing processes are three times faster than the normal human, being able to heal from most conventional wounds within minutes to days. Minor wounds take but minutes to heal while more major wounds can take a few weeks, with him being able to regenerate missing organs or limbs but these take roughly a month in total to regrow making his regenerative healing not quite on par with say Wolverine. He is also moderately immune to most Earthly diseases, illnesses, and poisons and minor immunity to alcohol. +Claws/Fangs: As a werewolf, Valrulfur has natural claws and fangs that are capable of tearing through flesh and bone, stone, rocks, and weak metals and are exceptionally durable. +All Speak: With being of the Asgardians, Valrulfur has a connection to the All Speak that allows him to intuitively understand any language that he comes across. Death Sense: Due to his connection with Hela, Valrulfur is capable of sensing someone's approaching death just days or hours before it will happen. It allows him to have limited pre-cognition of sorts as he can psionically view how a person will die but if they avoid it he can tend to see the new way in which someone will meet their end. Though he chooses often to not tell someone unless they are close to him. +Soul Tracking: As an agent of Hela and with his connection to Hel, Valrulfur can sense and see the souls of the departed by sensing the energy in which they give off. Though this is limited to those stuck in "limbo" or the plane between life and death and the souls in which have left their bodies and reside on the living plane. Though he can also see those in which use astral projection since this is simply most of the person's soul leaving their form and falls under the "in limbo" criteria. +Soul Absorption/Banishment: Valrulfur can also absorb a wandering soul through the use of the mark on his back, his eyes often glowing a greenish color when absorbing the soul into his form. This can temporarily give him a power boost by turning him into a berserker state if he allows it to or he can send them straight to the Underworld of Hela's realm often disappearing from the Earthly plane to escort the soul there. +Self-Resurrection: With being neither fully dead nor fully alive, Valrulfur's spirit is tied to Hela's realm which means he can be killed and sent back to her realm where he takes roughly two to three days to recover before his spirit returns to his physical state once more. Thus he can go through a cycle of resurrection to continue his duties as Hela's death agent. Weaknesses +Silver: Despite his Asgardian heritage and magically made as a werewolf, Val still shares some werewolf weaknesses, silver being one of them. Like any werewolf, silver will burn and damage his skin, causing Valrulfur some real pain more than a normal ordinary weapon. Silver nitrate works just as well. +Wolfsbane: A type of plant that can be found in the wild but somewhat difficult to get one's hands on unless they know what they are looking for. Nevertheless, Valrulfur tends to try and avoid this as this particular plant is exceptionally poisonous and deadly for werewolves. A small dose could make Valrulfur quite ill and weakened while a large dose puts him at a high risk of dying, taking much longer to recover from than any normal disease. +Human/Normal Asgardian state: While in his human/Asgardian form, Valrulfur's physical capabilities are weakened, which is common for most Asgardians who come to Earth. His werewolf state allows him to bypass this weakness, but whenever he is in this state his abilities are cut in half and work on a weaker scale. +Magic: Due to his Asgardian heritage and transformation some years ago, Valrulfur is highly susceptible to magic. He can easily be harmed by most spells, more so than a normal weapon or abilities and his transformation can be disrupted due to the magical origins of his werewolf abilities. +Death sense/soul absorption: Val cannot predict someone's death years ahead before it will happen. The death must occur within the span of two months or shorter for him to have some decently accurate prediction, but even then he can have only so much influence on these events himself. He also is only capable of taking the souls of those on the verge of death or already walking the astral plane. If someone is using astral projection for example, he can only sense and interact but he cannot take the soul unless that person allows him to or a prolonged period of remaining in such a state puts the body close to death.
