It had been nice change to get out of the office, he usually was cooped up there at least ten hours a day and now he finally got a chance to get out and do things on his own. Tony decided he wasn't going as Ironman but as himself, there were some familiar cafes along the streets where the Avengers tower was so he thought he could check one of those out for a late lunch. He had his Ironman suit with him incase he needed it but from the looks of most things here things were alright. There were no signs of danger or anything to add to it, it was just its typical day out in the street. As he walked he could see some fans waving to him and even asking for an autograph which he didn't mind so much it came with the personality of being a celebrity. Finally he found something that looked suitable it was an out door eating area and the fall weather wasn't too bad either.
As he sat down at one of the tables of the outside part of the restaraunt a waiter came up to him, "What will it be sir?" The waiter asked. "I'll have a soup and one of your pastas, sir and a soda." Tony said as the voice quickly was recognized by the older man as the gentleman nodded. There were a couple of other people were out eating dinner or even having lunch for the most part. He was by himself but he got the occasional looks which he was used too by now.
"Yes sir I'll get those things out right away Mister Stark." The waiter said as he went to go and get his order. As the man went Tony then took out his phone to check out what was going on in the media. He had posted the photos of his wedding soon and they did come out nice, except for that awful event that happened earlier that same night. It had been a total disaster. He also sent out a couple of texts through to his current wife Jamie and wondered how she was doing. So far things were calm but he knew things could change on a flick of a dime.
Obbara, the centaur-like half demon girl was in the city. Earlier, she gave a private concert to a rich female, who was looked a little older then herself. After giving a private concert to her, and after the concert Obaara was resting a little. Since she was very hungry, after a while, she took a short walk in the city. She was looking for a nice place to eat something realively fast. She wanted to get back to the mansion and not spend too much time, in the city now. The Centaur girl was waring a tshirt, a blue sweater and a light jacket, finding the weather fairly good, and after a shorter walk, she found a nice cafe with a nice outdoor eating area. She decided to go with it, as it looked fairly popular. She walked up to one of the much lower tables and having encountered such problem before, she simply moved one of the chars that was there, to make space for herself. Getting a few dirty looks and even pointing, she clumsily kneeled down so that the table would be just amount the right height for her to be able to eat properly. It was embarresing enught for her as it was, but on hearing a soft voice from inside, she grew red from humiliation. "somebody else care to serve a freak?" said one of the waiters. Obbara glared towards the inside of the cafe and was really angry, but only her trembling hands showed her anger, her face only showed humiliation. She took the menu and slowly flipped thregh it. Her wings involontarily jerked a little, accitently hit the table, that was near her, where a nice looking person in an elegant suit was sitting. Her wing accidentally nusged the table somewhat, pushing it against the chest of the person. Looking up with a fairly scared look on her face, she apologised fastly. "I am sorry, sir... i did not mean of hitting you. " She spoke in her slight Sokovian accent and then lowered her head to collect her order, witch she would place when the other person would be served, but muttered to herself. "3 onion soups, 6 burgers, 5 large chicken sandwiches, 3 large salads, and 3 large glass of water. " She muttered mostly to herself, unsure if the person next to her, heard her or not.
Tony heard someone unusual speak up as he couldn't help but hear about what the waiter had to say about her, as he looked over he was a bit stunned to see that there was a woman with wings and a horse body sitting not far from where he was. And the next thing he knew some wings came down fluttering above his table as Tony noticed this he wasn't at all bothered by it. "It's alright, ma'am nothing wrong with it." Tony said.
He heard that she was still bothered by this as he thought of his own problems, compared to her they might've been almost equal to it like the Extremis virus that he had no say over when he first got it. Ultron injected it into his skin as if he were an experiment and luckily for Tony he survived it with a more metallic looking like body and durable skin compared to most humans and a bit of a gift of giving out heat that he still hardly had control over. Luckily Jamie was giving him lessons on how to tame the fire. "You think you've got problems kid? I've seen people struggle day in and day out on the Avengers and all of them have made a difference. After all you may not realize you're alone in this." Tony said. "For example."
As he pulled out his arm you could see the metallic like parts in his body on his arm that were hidden behind his sleeves, "I was given this virus by my captor where I live. But if you play your cards right kid you can do great things," Tony said wondering if he was getting through to her at all, but some how he doubted it. The girl seemed not so interested in hearing on what an older Avenger had to say about it.
When the other person told her that the involontary action of her wing was alright, Obaara thankfully bowed her head, before going back to continue flipping threght the menu. When she heard the person speak again, the half demon looked him in there eyes, listening. And then thinking about what he said. Her thoughts where however cut very short, when he pulled one of his sleeved up to show his arm. It was sort of metallic in nature. Obaara shook her head as if to apologize to the person. " I am sorry but i do not know much about these Avengers. " She said, and hope that she was not making herself look like she was living in a cave or something. She hardly went to anywhere else but to concerts and spend a lot of time with a computer, working. She only heard a few mentions of the Avengers during the few days that she has been with the X-Men, so she was really far behind, with her superhero teams and such. " I only have made a difference with being a talented singer and having a smaller business... not much else. " She said with a slight smile but then grew a little frowny. " i am far from being an Avengers. " She said, as a statement, and did not have any bitterness or anger in her. Obaara did not want to embarres herself by telling him, that she was not a hero material. " Do great things?... maybe, if it means rising on top of public oppinion, i am managing, or at least trying to... but it was far easier for me, before i was turned into what i am right now. " She explained and then signalled for one of the waiters, that she would like to order.
Tony seemed surprised, he was sure that most people knew about the Avengers by now and this girl didn't. Had she been in hiding all this time? Well he figured it might be time to let her know who he was from the looks of things. He listened to her a bit more as she explained at what she had done, she was a very good singer from the concerts that she had been too. And Tony wasn't at all surprised at her form, he lived with the Hulk and with other super heroes who had unusual powers or features, Obaara was no difference.
"Kid we all have our bad moments in life. I know I've had my handful of them." Tony said. However he wasn't interested in bringing up the information and horror that he saw from the Age of Ultron. Ultron had pretty much wiped out most of the humans and super heroes. "But we have to live off of those and learn from them. I learned from experience that my metallic like form has helped me withstand what most humans can't survive, my durability has been enhanced, and I'm able to live a bit longer than most humans."
"But if you must know I am an Avenger myself, I'm Tony Stark or Ironman as many know me today." Tony said as the other waiters or people eating there seemed surprised by this as he mentioned it. Upon first glance you might not have noticed that. But after he put on his suit which was packed away tightly like a briefcase it would make much more sense. It wasn't long before one of the waiters came up to give an order to Obaara as Tony managed to get his soup in as it was pretty hot, perhaps too hot to eat.
Obaara listened to the other person and nodded. "bad moments of life, yes... you and me too. " Obaara said with a little less enthusiasically, and even with some saddness. She glanced at her hands for a moment before looking back when he spoke again. As he introduced himself, Obaara grow a little surprised and intimidated, nervous but managed to control her voice from giving that away. "Nice to meet an you, Tony Stark. " She said bowing her head slightly towards Tony. During the short stay of only a few days that she spent with the X-Men that she learned that the Avengers where equal or even slightly stronger then the X-Men... as the best two teams of heroes in the world. Untill just a week ago, she did not know either of these teams, even existed. She was sure that there where safe places for superheroes, she she did not imagine that she would have the honor of being a part of the X-men... a legendary team of Mutants. And now, she was talking to one of the Avengers members, there was hope for her to evolve and overcome her physical problems and maybe one day, her introverted being. " i had wings since birth, and these flames... they caused the most of being rejected and hated. " She said with a dark frown. Sje did not want to mention that she was born a half demon. When the waiter kindly came over to Tony and kindly places his soup down, infront of him, Obaara looked at it, finding it a nice looking soup. The waiter then, stepped to her table, and with that the gentle kindness was mostly gone. " What do you want? " He asked with a soft sigh. Obaara had to fight an urge to grab and toss the table at him and after a second of pause, the gave her order. "I would like 3 of those soups, 6 cheesburgers, 5 large chicken sandwiches, 3 large salads, and 3 large glass of water, please. " She spoke with her usual very slight accent. She also count not help a shy shrug when th waiter became fairly surprised. "What? i am hungry. " She said with a shy smile, and this one, did not care what the hell others thought of her.

"It's nice to meet you as well I'm afraid I didn't catch your name though." Tony said as he began to start taking sips from his own soup. It was incredibly hot, it was always hard to imagine when it wasn't too hot or not enough that would've made enough of the members who arrived at the restaurant incredibly mad. especially if they burned their mouths on it. However that was probably the least of their worries.
"You're not the only one ma'am." Tony said as he referred to his chest. "My own chest has an arch reactor, there were times I thought I'd die from having pieces of metal that are in too close to my heart. After a couple of surgeries I was able to get a couple of out, but there are still some there that are too dangerous to remove, and if they get too close and block some of the valves that could very well spell my own doom. That's why I have the arch reactor in place to act as a magnet." Tony explained.
"But you shouldn't be ashamed, there are members that know how to wield fire, like on the Fantastic Four, or are different like the Hulk. There are many of them out there." Tony said feeling like he was almost writing a speech down here. After the waitor took down Obaara's offer Tony was a bit surprised at how much food she wanted, then again being half horse he assumed that they ate far more than normal people.
"And if you are a part of a team I'm sure they'll lead you in the right direction." Tony said not aware just yet that Obaara had just recently been apart of the X-Men. For all he knew, he could have offered her a place on SHIELD or an in training Avenger, there were many opportunities and she might not have noticed them just yet. SHIELD has all kinds of people working for them. Heck they even created a group of spider heroes called the Web Warriors several years ago.
After she gave her order the waiter left her and Obaara turned her attetion to Tony. " I am called Obaara... Obaara Zipos. " She introduced herself. She listened as Tony spoke and grew wied eyed. She cursed in Deminoc language without even realizing and then frowned slightly. Not be ashamed that she was a Centaur with wings. It was not easy, to say the least. " What is the Fantastic Four... are they like the Avengers? And i try so hard to fit in, but it is not up to me when others hate me for what i look like. " Obaara shook her head but did not want to annoy, anger or argue for an Avenger, so she fell silent for a few seconds before talking again. " I get back at people who hate me for what i am, for how i look, by continuing what i am good and and what i enjoy... for now, that is all i am able to do." She glanged around to see how many others where listening, and luckily, nobody cared about her. She spoke softly. "i am not hero material yet... i did the things that happened, not from being a hero... i did them for my family and because i wanted to survive... not all demons are bad, you see. " She started with a soft shrug, before her voice grew dark, before she finished with a slightly sad frown, before turning away fast, but not fast enught, as her eyes where watery but then, because she remembered her parents and there very last minits.
"If you're not up for a super hero job, I'm sure you can find your place some other way." Tony suggested as he was taking his soup rather carefully. "And it's nice to meet you Obaara." he said he was certain he'd remember that name since it sounded so unique. Tony wanted to tell Obaara about his time in Ultron but he knew many wouldn't want to hear it. It was simply far too dangerous and far too destructive to hear all those deaths that he had seen. It was a miracle even to him how he was still alive to this day. And so he was grateful to see that this dimension was doing just fine and not in such an apocalyptic state. He knew Obaara wouldn't want to hear that kind of news.
"Obaara if anything consider yourself a survivor. I am one myself, my parents died, friends died before me in ways I don't even want to remember." Tony said. "Survivors are often the ones who can do great things in life, even if they don't know it right away." Tony also heard the darkness in her voice, that was one thing that she needed to let go also since it was going to possibly eat her away and then she may turn to that violence. Tony hoped that she wouldn't go to that side.
"But what I say is probably not going to help too much, it is only advice, you need to figure out your own path you know." Tony said hoping that she'd at least choose the right one. Going to the X-Men was such a good start for her that she might be able to do greater things there. And not to mention there were people there who had mutant abilities just like herself.
She had to concentrate hard to not tear up even more, but when she spoke, a few seconds later, her voice gave away her pain. "I recently lost my own parents and a few of my close friends. " She said and took a few long seconds for her to focus enught so that she would be calm. She was still sad when she spoke. " Tony Stark... i am really sorry that you also had to experince such terrible things. " She said and meant it.
" Maybe i am a survivor, but i have learned that they have it the hardest... the most difficult. " Obaara said and would have wanted to continue but was cut short when a waitress approached her, carrying her 3 soups. She smiled softy at Obaara and as the soups where placed down on her table, the waitress spoke softly. " I am really sorry for that first impression, many others do not like mutants, but i have no problem with them, let me know when you finish, and i will bring your cheeseburgers. " The waitress said, and then turned to Tony. " May i get you anything else, Mr. Stark? " She asked and waited for a reply. If Tony would order something else, then she would take it, and then leave.
Once the coast was clear again, Obaara spoke softly to Tony. "I have joined the Xavier School just a few days ago, but i am a little torn between learning and also my own work. " She spoke and tried one of the sups... it was suspisiously cold, making her frown and shake her head. She however was even hungrier by now, and drank one of the bowls of soups in a single go and after a minit, she also drank half of the second bowl, before realizing that she sould at least pretend to have to wait a little. Obaara could not really stop herself, so after a few seconds of waiting, she drank the other half of the second soup before actually pausing a little.
"It's alright Obaara, I'd rather I'd forget those types of things. I'm glad to see that things are much better in this world." Tony said hoping that he phrased that last part right. "Much better" Could probably sound odd to Obaara on what he meant. But the world he had come from was an apocalyptic like world where there were little to no super heroes left. Suppose he wasn't alone as Spider-Man 2099 came from the future part of the Earth when it was in the world 2099 and a lot had changed since their time too.
"No I'm good ma'am, I may get a cup of coffee before I go I just came out for a quick lunch before getting back to work." Tony said as it seemed that his day was never over when he had a long busy of work. So an outing like this was always interesting to him and a way to get off of work if he went out to eat. He nodded as he listened to Obaara as she spoke up, she was absolutely right about being a survivor at this point.
"Hm looks like you have to find a bit of balance in yourself. I understand that can be a challenge too. But if you do ask I'm sure Xavier can find away to get your schooling in around your work." Tony said pointing that part out as he noticed that she drank all three in one go. Though it wasn't too unusual he had seen Hulk devour about four pizzas, which meant that the fridge in the Avengers always had to be restocked. Scratch that, make it a couple of fridges.
" The waitress listend to Tony and nodded as she waited for Obaara to also finish. "Right away, Mr. Stark. " The waitress said and " Well, luckily i am my my own boss, as i own a small web development business and a social media platform... and my other thing is being a singer and musician... so i could balance the three... somehow... but i spend a lot of time working with a laptop... so that takes away a lot of time, as it is. " She shrugged and after she drank her third bowl of soup in one go, she put the bowl down and looked for the kind female waitress. The waitress went over and as she took the tray that had the bowls on it, spoke. "Your burgers will be done in just a few minits. " She spoke. Obaara looked at Tony fairly embarresed. " Yes, i need to catch up on proper schooling, i had led... a different life, and only learned the basics in the different schools that i have been in. " She frowned and then added. "But i would not have it any other way, i was one of the lucky few that wa able to learn in another place, away from my country, witch is something that i can not be thankful enught. " She said to Tony. A few seconds later, the waitress arrived with the coffee for Tony and her burgers, placing the coffee intront of Tony first, and then getting the burgers infont of Obaara. Obaara siged happily and began to eat one of the burgers, not really chewing the food,,mostly just swallowing. If she would eat like another human, then she would never be able to finish eating enught for her to become full. She had learned this, in the first few days of being a Winged Centaur. She was munching on the third burger, when she felt something strange, something demonic or mystical, causing her to grow alert and serious.
Tony nodded as the waitress went and got Obaara's food and as well as his coffee. It wasn't long before she came back with both the orders. He took a bit of milk and sugar in his before it was just right and began to taste it. It was obviously hot and had been just made recently. "That's good that you are starting to figure things out, and being your own boss can be the best thing sometimes." Tony pointed out. His thoughts moved over to Arno as he last saw him the guy was working on his own enterprise and building just as Tony had, the two had more in common than he realized and probably ever would.
That was when Tony noticed that the centaur girl was starting to act a bit odd, and this made him raise a blue eye over towards her as his AI spoke up in a british accent. "Sir I am detecting a mystical presence nearby you better be on your guard." Jarvis said as Tony sighed. He wasn't going to admit it in front of Obaara but there were some things that he didn't believe in like ghosts or even magic in some cases. That was the problem with having a scientific mind and he always had relied on it.
"Well whatever it is, it's a presence unknown to me. I know for a fact Thor has a mystical presence around his hammer at all time." Tony said. "But just in case." He said taking out his suit he quickly suited up his armor as the machine parts went over him as the familiar red and yellow Ironman came into view. He really hoped that Obaara wouldn't be stunned by this, but if this feeling was bothering the both of them he knew that it was bad. "Alright why won't this...whatever it is show itself?" Tony asked knowing Thor would probably rub it in his face for not believing him in magic. Still the last thing Tony wanted to be in wa sa fight between the god of thunder. Often times the damages that happened in the Avengers tower were from Thor and the Hulk shoving their weight around.
Obaara nodded gently, but also thought about how long it would take her to become a good hero. "Well, i will need years to become a useful hero, and another few years to become anything close to Avengers material, that is for sure. " She smirked, knwong this as a fact. Her past demons hunts... sure they where dangerous and had to concentrate, but that was different then being a hero. She went back to eating another burger before she felt the strong energies. She listend to Tony... and then his AI.
She listened to Tony and nooded. " Yes, in most cases, objects and portals... give off powerful energy signitures... in rare cases... some very powerful demons... also give off weaker energies. " She said... and was really hoping that it was only a portal and not a demon lord. Obaara grew very surprised as Tony suited up and was also very impressed and tried her best to keep a professional face. "Tony Stark... that was... impressive. " Obaara said after staring at him for a few long seconds, with wide eyes, but also keeping a mildly surprised face in general, trying to find the right words to finish... but failed, decided to keep it simple.
She however saw a few people run towards and part the restaurant and let out a lot grunt. "That is definitly a portal. " She said and she stiffed the last bit of her current burger into her mouth and clumsily got up from her kneeling, instantly towering above others. After she swallowed the food and licked some of the crums off from around her mouth, she fell into a few seconds of deep thought, trying to remember the most affective spells to close a portal and to try to slow a demon down.
She then glanced at the remaining small pile of burgers that where still on her place and grew a little grumy and annoyed. "But i am still hungry. " she said with a fair load of annoyed dissapointment, but took off trotting, towards where she sensed the mystical energy from. She did not need a map or guidance for that... it was instinctive... she just felt it and knew, where the energy was coming from.
"Everything takes time kid. Do you think anyone of us Avengers became heroes in one night? It took me years to perfect my ironman suits. The first one I built was in a cave." Tony said giving a soft chuckle but he remembered how dark those days were and they continued to remain dark for some time after that as Ultron came in. Tony nodded as he listened to Obaara as she spoke up about the magic and stuff, she sounded like she knew what she was doing, and he did not.
"Well magic isn't really my forte that's more of Thor's and Dr. Strange's realm. I highly doubt either one of them are available at this time of day." Tony admitted knowing that the magical realm was beyond his understanding. HE could try and try all he wanted to make sense with the scientist area of things there, but it might've been pointless to do that. Just let things be. Perhaps that was the best answer. "But thanks, I think it'd be a bit of a thing to say that I have a way for a dramatic opening." Tony said as he knew that there was a bit of an important matter at hand as he traced the source of the information on this odd magical thing that formed. If it was a portal he'd need help from Obaara or even someone else on the Avengers.
"Well then I guess we'll find out whatever it is when we get there. I can't tell on my screen what it is exactly just giving off a lot of energy." Tony admitted as he started flying in the air as he watched Obaara to make sure he didn't loose her. It was hard to miss her. And to mention it was hard to miss him with his suit of armor in the sky. Once they arrived he saw some kind of odd glow coming from one of the buildings where this magic was at hand. "So what exactly do you think it is, Obaara?" He said as he hovered in place to make sure he didn't get too close to it.
