This training excersise had been a rough one, the SHIELD agents were required for all of them to be in top shape and this was no ordinary day for Sam as he found himself using one of the spare rooms as the agents monitored his progress. Sam had gone quite far from being just a SHIED trainee in his first few days. He had found that thsi training was especially helpful to keep him away from the thoughts of Anya. That had just been heart breaking in his case, he thought the two could be more than just friends but clearly that wasn't the case at all. They were just that, friends. So he kept himself busy with work, and did his best to try and ignore it as often as he could. He had Brandi to talk too, but he knew he would need to find other friends, and BRandi wasn't always around.
Sam found himself putting up a small Nova SHIELD that had a blue hue like mirror as it held back some cannon fire from some plasma weapons. The plasma fire just bounced right off of it, and landed not far from where he was. With his free hand the Nova Corps member shot a Nova blast in the direction of the gun and blasted it to smithereens. But that wasn't the only one as Sam was forced to duck and take cover behind a large pillar. His own battle ground looked like it was something in a desert, something you'd probably see in Africa. "Sam you need to take out as many as you can..." The agent's voice monitoring the thing was a bit cut off from the gunfire even with his helmet. "And save those civilians that are up on the top of the roof."
"I'm afraid I can't hear ya buddy it's too loud here." Sam said as he sent a couple more nova blasts in the direction of the cannons knocking out two more but it didn't silence the deafening gunfire. Sam often wondered if this was something like a war zone like the soldiers saw. He knew right now and here he was in the middle of a war and was a soldier for not just SHIELD but also for Nova Corps itself, at least what was left of it anyways. Using his Nova force once more, he sent a large blast of blue energy towards some of the canyons and blasted them before they could go anywhere, and reduced them to rubble. He flew up to the top seeing the hologram people. "Have no fear Nova is here. Blah blah blah." He said with a rather unenthuisastic voice since he knew they weren't real.
"And cut that's enough for now Nova, you should go rest." The agent said. "Although try to act more heroically towards the end part." The agent said as Sam rolled his eyes before walking out. He had only just realized now that he had been sweating and getting an adrenaline rush right there. Luckily it was over for now and he could rest, as he sat down on one of the couches and took a water bottle with him. Apparently some other members were going in next soon for their training. And he was curious to watch.
Itsu carefully clipped her wrist bracers into place, metal ones given to her by SHIELD along with the attire SHIELD had given her that was made to allow for maneuverability and adapting to the conditions she was use to being around. The halter top and pants were navy blue and black, black boots, and some metal parts, technology meant to keep track of several factors including an earwig communicator that she hooked onto her ear. Giving a few test taps she nodded to herself when she felt it was working properly, coming towards the training rooms when her time was coming up for her own training session, stepping inside when she reached the room.
But she looked curiously as she heard the other agents speaking to Sam, one of the slightly older and more experienced agents there. "Act heroic? The man barely looks like he can fly straight for a week with how whipped he looks." Itsu remarked, seeming to startle some of the agents who didn't hear her come in, the woman approaching, knowing her time would be coming soon enough. "I wouldn't listen to them. Not like you do this hero thing all the time from what I've heard." Itsu told him, giving a quick scolding look towards the others who seemed to quickly busy themselves with watching the other training matches, obviously aware the right reports might have them a back track.
Satisfied they got the message, Itsu turned back to Sam with a greeting smile, "But where's my manners? I'm Itsu Williams, though some here call me Bluejay." Itsu introduced herself, holding out a hand towards him in greeting.

Sam raised an eye behind his helmet a bit surprised that someone would speak up to him like that. It usually happened to be that he had to defend for himself and might as well forget about getting help from someone else. He had Brandi as a friend and she was great but he knew he couldn't hang around her all the time, she had her own life and as well as her own jobs being a hunter. That was something he probably could never get used to doing. A nova was meant for space and on Earth none of his powers gave him the ability to try and take down a ghost, which was chilling as is. "Uh?" Sam asked in surprise that someone that he didn't know was defending him. He looked up seeing the winged woman as she approached her and as well as the agents, they quieted down only giving a few occasional whispers, and went back to work.
"Thanks, I have had the criticism from the SHIELD agents since I was a trainee, and if you ask me they need to bug off." Sam said giving them a wave with one gloved hand. Sam had been a part of SHIELD for about ten years and he honestly felt like he was still treated like a trainee on many occasions, and it really irked him. "And you're right about the hero thing." He said with a soft nod.
He listened to the woman noticing her mechanical wings before him. He had of course seen the flight from many super heroes before, but Itsu's looked different and he was a bit intrigued by them. Sam even flew on the Nova Force, and he loved every second of it, he couldn't help but wonder if Itsu felt the same way with her wings. Still the thoughts of Anya came back as he couldn't shake it, he had to forget her. If he came across her again out in New York then for sure they were just friends. That was it. As he heard Itsu speak she gave her first name. And so he decided he could trust her with his identity as he removed his Nova Helmet showing some black hair and a hispanic face, and blue eyes. Sam was probably the spitting image of his father while his sister had his mother's looks.
"It's nice to meet you, Itsu my name is Sam Alexander or I'm more known as my super hero name, Nova." Sam introduced himself. "So how long have you been apart of SHIELD? This is the first time I've met you but I'm sure we may have come across each other in the past." Sam pointed out.
"Pleasure to meet you Sam." Itsu said with a small smile, seeming to not be surprised to come across one of the more senior agents when it came to heroes. Honestly, she was surprised she had not come across more of them since she had been there long enough she figured she might. Then again, SHIELD seemed rather strict of who had access to where and who interacted with who, no doubt to avoid conflicts of interest or distractions. The reasons could go on forever and Itsu wasn't too interested in contemplating what all could be the reason she was just now getting to meet the more senior agents.
"I've only been with SHIELD for about three years to be honest, I just became a level one agent." Itsu admitted, taking out her badge from a pocket on a utility belt, showing she was indeed relatively newly graduated from the training program before putting it back. "Only reason I am here though is because my father is a retired agent and he was able to pull some strings so here I am." She explained. Her story probably wasn't nearly as interesting as Sam's own, only having heard snippets of how some of the heroes had ended up with SHIELD or were members themselves, a lot of them going through the training program she had gone through.
But she glanced back when one agent spoke, prompting towards her that her own training session was ready. "Hold that thought. Looks like I'm up, but you can watch if you want." Itsu said as she headed for the door leading out to the training room, stepping in and looking up at the large pillar in the middle, holographic energy loops extended from it going in an upward spiral and several turrets, no doubt set to not harm her, at the ready. "Going for speed first." Itsu said over the earwig communicator, "Roger that Agent Bluejay, just try not to get overzealous." An agent responded back and Itsu had to stop herself from grinning, knowing sometimes she couldn't help it, not when her wings were technically back.
With that, the woman took a deep breathe before the energy wings suddenly sprouted from the device visible along her spine, giving off the same brilliant blue color as repulsor energy and the wings giving a realistic flap. They seemed to almost resemble true bird or angel wings in fact. "And here we go." She muttered as she took flight, having to dodge to the side as the turrets aimed but she still managed to dive through the first few rings.

"Sounds like SHIELD was able to pull a few strings for you. It seems like they accept family members of shield agents in here too." Sam agreed. He wanted to tell her about how he came in, SHIELD had found Sam's helmet and then picked him up after learning that his own father was missing for being a Nova and no one had seen him in a long time. Sam was pretty sure that he'd spend every day even until his dying breath to find him. One day they'd find him he was certain of that, it was just a matter of when and where.
"Alright have fun with your training out there, they aren't exactly making it easy no surprise there." Sam said as he nodded and watched Itsu as she went out to work on the training arena. The lights were on and Sam got up as he sat on the couch with his knees, helmet in hand in case he needed it as he watched her starting to perform the training session. Her wings were impressive, and the fun side of Sam had a thought and wonder that they might have a chance to try and do a flight area where he'd ask her to a race. He had beaten others before, black helmet novas were well known for their speed and he was no different.
He watched her curiously as he saw her with flying about the rings, they were rather impressive. Sam had been improving his own score the last time he had done this one. He had only missed one or two rings due the fact there was a time part on it and that had damaged his score a bit but it was still ranked pretty highly compared to his first two training sessions he had done there. "She's pretty good." He said. "But once she's done I'm challenging her to a race." Sam added determined to do it even if the older SHIELD agents didn't agree to it half the time.
Itsu flew upwards as fast as her energy wings would take her, something she was honestly not fully use to. It had been three years since the operation to get her wings brought back, the energy wings connected directly into her brain through the spinal column. There were days working them came naturally, without a second thought. And other days she was still all too aware she still no longer had the feathery wings she once was born with. Training sessions always had a bad habit of reminding her she still had to get use to the alien technology within her spine, ones that could never truly replace what she had lost.
"You always have to race someone don't you Alexander." One of the agents in charger of the sessions said with a shake of his head, but it would be up to Itsu if she wanted to race. "Ask when she gets back." He added, watching the sessions closely, having a trained eye for this sort of thing after so many years of handling this sort of job.
But as Itsu was coming towards the last few rings, one of the turrets was aimed just right, making a shot towards her back that Itsu didn't catch in time. A surprised yelp left her, the low energy ammo striking her square in the upper back and causing her wings to flicker and disappear briefly, "Not good!" She began free falling the moment her wings disappeared, trying to trigger her wings once more as she let out a piercing sonic scream. The scream tore through some of the machinery presently aimed to fire once more, causing them to spark or some areas of the weapons to explode while the force was enough to make the reinforced glass of the observation window shake violently before she cut the scream as quickly as she had began. By then, her wings finally burst out in a flash of energy once more, Itsu correcting herself in the air by practiced reflex and flaring them out to slow herself.
Once she was sure she had slowed enough, she finally gave them a few powerful flaps and shot upwards back to the landing platform, needing a moment to catch her breath.
"Well someone has to keep the title of fastest flier around." Sam said giving the shield agents a slightly sarcastic remark towards the older agent although at this point he was almost equal towards the others since he was decently climbing the SHIELD hierarchy ladder, of course Fury was at the top and the other agents were down below them. Sam may have been a big pain to some of the members, even started fights, but he had learned a lot from his time being a SHIELD agent as he watched Itsu complete the obstacle course, it might've not been the prettiest in a few areas but she did very well and perhaps it'd give her a high remark.
"Besides most black nova helmet owners are known for their speed." Sam admitted knowing now he was just being cocky and a bit excited. he wanted to challenge Itsu to a race and maybe other fliers as well if they had the time for it. He knew there was an obstacle course in mind for it out of the training room to make things a bit more interesting.
Sam's face was glued to the window almost as his breath fogged it up on occasions, he smeared it aside as he could see again only adding a bit to his frustration. Once she was done he knew she deserved some praise, as to the SHIELD agents might not give any of it. They were so up tight. "That was really good Itsu. Well except for that last part..." Sam said from the window. "I bet we could both get high marks on it in no time." He said finally putting on his helmet seeing that the excitement was pretty much gnawing at his insides. Once Itsu was out they were ready to race. At least that's what he hoped in this case. He couldn't hold back that energy that was in him.
