We Meet Again (Lila)

It had been a couple days or even weeks now, and it was a nice sunny day over New York. There were occasional clouds that went through the blue sky. But there was no rain in sight. Kaine hadn't been able to keep track of how long it had been since he saw Lila. She had away of getting to him, she was different and he wondered why that was. Not too many people were able to touch him like she had done. His girlfriend had been one, and the brief encounters with Susan Storm had been some time ago. Then there was Pete himself. They went on their own ways many occasions but they always found themselves coming back to the same place. He wondered what that was that kept people coming and meeting back up again? Was it human drive? Instinct? It was hard to say really.

Kaine found himself sitting on one of the tall buildings in New York City as he was in his Scarlet Spider suit. The red and black suit looked far different than Spider-Man's but that had been the point of it since the beginning. He wanted to be different. The city was quiet, which gave him time to get away from things for a bit and be on his own. The Web Warriors needed him, but he sighed as he heard SHIELD's call on his phone, "I got it, I'll be sure to look out for her. Yeah I guess it's back to protecting her again." He said as he turned off his phone. Using his other hand he sent out some webbing as it attached to a nearby building. You heard a familiar thiwp sound coming from the webbing and it wasn't long before he was swinging across New York again.

Finally he reached the school area where Lila would no doubt be at this hour. He sat waiting on one of the nearby buildings. He wanted to make sure Lila was safe, but would she recognize him in his spider suit? He knew he used it a handful of times in the past, but it had been awhile. He wondered if a text would be enough but he'd wait and see as he climbed up and over the fenced in area of the school and into a tree. Hopefully no one would notice him up here, but he had a funny feeling that might be a waste of time. "Looks like we'll meet again." He said softly as he waited for the bell to ring for the final class to come. In the mean time he spent his time on his phone checking things on the internet and the virtual world.

 Lila walked out of her of her high school on to the campus grounds. Lila let out a slight yawn as she walked towards the parking lot and after she got done yawning an had reaching the parking lot Lila spotted the familiar pick-up truck that be longed to her family looking at the truck Lila was now to make up her mind whether she wanted to ride in the front or the back of the truck.

Lila after thinking decide that she was going to chill in the back of the truck. Lila walked over to the pick up and opened the back door before she entered the truck she took off her backpack and tossed it on in and then she got in herself. Lila closed the door behind her and locked it. She laid down in the back using her backpack as a pillow. Lila decided that while she was waiting for her older brother to get done with his after school actives she was going to take a nap.

The young teenager was starting to fall into a light doze when she heard a sound coming from outside the truck. Lila opened her eyes to notice that someone was trying to break into the pick up and they where having a hard time pick locking the lock for the time being. Lila was glad that she had been smart enough to lock the pick up trucks doors but however she was lucky so far that the person wasn't looking in the back were she was laying. Lila was now worried and scared and she was trying to figure out she can get phone from her pocket without moving and making sound.

As Kaine sat in the tree for awhile he drifted towards different and deep thoughts, the familiar quiet Kaine came about as he had been many times in the past. But something grabbed his attention as he felt something go off in the back of his mind, it was an all too familiar tingling sensation and it was one that couldn't be ignored. He stood up straight looking for the area for what was causing the problem. "Great a good time for the spidey sense to go off." he said to himself wondering what could cause it. Then he realized it would no doubt go off if Lila was nearby and in trouble. He looked through his black and red mask as he spotted some stranger at a familiar looking truck, he had seen that with the Barton family several times in the past and he knew that the stranger didn't belong there.

After jumping down from the tree with strong muscles from his legs he quickly ran forward and aimed a sharp punch at the guy's face, then with his other free arm, his left arm he brought out his sharp stingers as he brought it close to his neck. Kaine may have been different than Spider-Man but he wasn't going to kill the guy just for killing. He wasn't a monster like so many had labeled him in the past, maybe freak him out would be one thing. "I really don't like it when people try to steal things that don't belong to them. Why don't you get out of here while you still can and I call the cops? This is your only warning." He said as he looked up thinking he had seen someone in the back of the truck as he called out to see if they were alright, he hoped it wasn't Lila but he thought he could at least try to make sure that she was alright, this guy had gotten too close on his watch.

"Lila are you alright? Or is that even you in there?" Kaine asked. "It's me, Scarlet Spider." He called out as he began to tussle with the robber. If he had a weapon or a gun on him he'd find out sooner or later, but he knew Lila wouldn't be able to handle the gun fighting so he'd put himself first before her. At least he had a shot of living with his healing factor. Human lives were so fragile and he had survived dying from day one. "I've got this punk busy just stay in the car until I give the all clear." He said hoping she'd listen to him and trust him.

Everything was happening to fast  for Lila  and  for her mind can't seem to get over the shock that just.  So Lila sat up in the back and just did as she was told and stayed in the truck. Lila couldn't believe the her small town people would actually try to  break in the truck try to steal it.  Lila bite her lip and lowered her head and was trying stop her self shaking and trying to force her self to dial for help of her cell phone. Lila tried her best to take a few calming breaths and to get her cellphone once more.

Lila pulled her cellphone from her pocket with shaky hands and tried to best to dial the number for help. As Lila managed to dial for help and talk to the operator Lila watched the scene that took place out the truck with a worried and scared look on her face.

After a couple more self defense moves that he had been taught by some of the SHIELD agents, Kaine started to get the upperhand. Either this guy was crazy or just really drunk or something. He was doomed to spend some time in jail for trying to break into a car and then he would be beaten up by a super hero, I guess that's what you could call him right? That name was still odd in his head, but he would accept it later on in his life. "Now I told you for the last time, stay away from robbing cars for the rest of your life. Or you'll just end up in jail for the rest of your life." Kaine said as he sent out some webbing as the dazed fellow looked like he had enough and his legs were glued to the pavement he wasn't going to go any where as far as he could tell.

That was when he heard the sirens calling and the police were on their way, "Ah great I hate the police." Kaine grumbled but he knew why they were there. They were probably going to ask him a bunch of questions being that he took part of it. "Alright Lila, it's safe for you to come out." Kaine said. as he opened up the door for her. He was breathing a bit hard, but for the most part he was unharmed. "He's all webbed up, that stuff won't come off for an hour or two." He said as the guy had a dazed look in his eyes and didn't look well at all.

Lila listen to what Kaien had to say about it being safe to come out, but Lila wasn't so sure. Lila was still scared to death of the event that had just took place. "Are you sure that it's safe?"asked Lila. It was obvious that Lila wasn't coming from that truck any time soon. It could also be confirmed that Lila was shaking from fear and was very pale.

The fact that someone had tryed to break into the truck with her in, has now left her issues she was trying to work in her head."I did call the police while you where fighting so they should be here soon. I hope that it was okay that I called for help" said Lila.

Kaine nodded, "Yes I'm sure of it that he won't get out, You need a sharp knife to get it off." Scarlet Spider said. "But if you feel more comfortable staying in the car maybe it's the best." He agreed to that as he leaned against the car as he saw the flashing lights and heard the blaring siren as the black and white cops arrived onto the scene although a bit late but in good timing to take the guy in.

"Yeah it's fine if you call them I think any other person would've done it." Kaine said as the cop came over there. "Heay I recognize you you're one of the web heads." He said as Scarlet nodded but corrected him. "I'm not a web head I'm Scarlet Spider." He said noting how the police man was much larger than his own body so he knew to be careful but he was holding back his tongue. "Anyways this girl here I'm her body guard and that guy tried to steal the car. Luckily she did the right thing and called for help." Kaine explained as he gave a thumb back over to where the guy was webbed to the ground seeing that his handy work had paid off for now. They could pick up the guy and go now unless they had more questions to ask the both of them.

As the police where doing their job, Lila after a few more minutes got out of the truck. "Thanks for saving me Scarlet." said Lila. it wasn't two long after she got talking that a young man came running out of the building and over to the two. The young man had to be at least seven-teen years of age.


The young man had happen to be Lila big brother Nathaniel. "Hey , I saw the flashing lights on my way out, Are you okay sis?" asked Nathaniel. Not waiting for his sister to answer him Nathaniel looked over at Kaien." I'm assuming you had to save, Thanks man. I hope you don't mind me asking what happen?"asked Nathaniel.

Bic: "Of course, Lila it's apart of the job saving people. I learned at a young age to defend myself so it's stuck ever since." Kaine said with a sigh knowing he didn't want to dwell on bad memories, in fact there were still parts of his past were hazy. He was glad to see that she was out finally perhaps the police force around and with Scarlet Spider that at least made it bearable. It wasn't long before someone else came out of the school as Nathan arrived, he looked like he had grown the last time he had seen him, the same could possibly be said for Lila too.

"It's been taken care of now." Kaine said under his mask as he noticed her coming over looking worried. "Well Lila was getting into the car when someone tried to rob the car or even steal it. I came in time to stop him. I think if my spidey sense hadn't gone off this would've been a different situation." Kaine admitted knowing his spidey sense was very reliable and this time he was glad he had it. There were plenty of other times where he wished it hadn't gone off.
