Miguel felt himself running from tree to tree as he climbed through the jungle. They had been out there to try and find and locate Wakanda to give them aid if need it. However things went terribly wrong as their plane malfunctioned and they crashed way off from their targeted destination. He knew Scarlet Spider had made it out of the crash which was a good sign for them, but he knew they were going to be stuck in this jungle for some time until they got help. "Scarlet are you alright?" He asked over his com links but since there was no signal there was only static as this frustrated him. Miguel couldn't help but feel like he had been hunted this time by some unknown creature lurking through the woods. Kaine had gone his seperate way while he had gone his own since they couldn't make up their minds. It had been ten or so years since the Web Warriors had joined and they seemed to hardly agree on anything.
Miguel had dawned his usual blue and red day of the dead suit, however it didn't have eye areas on the mask like it did for many of the other spider heroes. He could see through the fabric, his eyesight was often so good that he didn't have to worry about it. In fact he had a weakness of photo phobia so the less light the better off he probably was.
And that was when Miguel sort of understood on why Anya left. He knew she helped become glue keeping the team together. He also had a feeling that they owed Spider-Man for a lot of what was going on to keep the group together. And then their was his oldest daughter May who was relatively new to the group, she had a lot of work to do but hopefully with their guidance, she'd be able to make it far.
"Scarlet! Spider-Man anyone can you hear me! Come on!" he called out a bit frustrated. As Miguel moved up to one last tree, he felt himself panting and his heart rate was probably off the chart too as it fluttered in his chest. Pumping blood through his body so he could stay alive. He paused only to stop for a bit to catch his breath and then they had to be on the move again. As he went he didn't realize it but it was too late to really react, a sharp tingling sensation came on as he felt his spidey sense go off. But by then the damage had been done as a sharp pain went through his shoulder and he cried out in pain.
"OW that hurt." he said pulling out an arrow from what had been stuck in his shoulder. As he began to head towards the next tree he started feeling nauseous, the area spun around him as he felt like he was going to fall or the world was spinning. "I don't feel so good." But before he could say anything else he fell on a tree limb below with a loud crack. If anyone would've heard that or not. It was clear on one thing he had been poisoned with a lethal dose of something. However his healing factor was starting to work and get rid of the toxins as it put him in overdrive.

She had been tracking them for a while now, found they were meeting for a deal there in Africa. Melati has had to pull some shady business to get what she needed to remotely have a ticket to even get there. And from there she had to rent an off road Jeep to get around the harsh landscapes of the country of where she had to go. It was said to be remote, far from civilization to the point she might be heading towards the very jungles. Aside from the obvious dangers, she also would have to deal with other known dangers of the country, especially militias and patrols of where she was not suppose to be going due to her technically being considered a tourist on her papers.
When Melati had made it to the outskirts of the jungle, she carefully hid away her Jeep for when she would return. She intended to cut through the jungle to the facility that AIM agents were supposedly meeting. The mutate has every intention of getting there and making some pain and finding out more about their operations, despite probably risking a lot on this one lead.
As she was moving through the jungle however, the young woman paused as she thought she heard something in the distance. It sounded like a jet, making her wonder why one would be way out in this remote of an area. There was no way she was that close to Wakanda surely. Curious, Melati quickly climbed further up a tree, just in time to watch with wife eyes as the SHEILD jet went crashing into the forest, causing her to gasp softly. That couldn’t be good. As much as it wasn’t her business she coildn’t help being concerned for the occupants of the ship, changing course for the time being and hurrying to go inspect the wreckage. Hopefully there were survivors and she could make sure they needed help or not. If they didn’t, she could go about her way.
But as she was getting closer to the crash site she heard someone calling out, causing the young woman to pause to listen. It sounded like someone not from around there, possibly a survivor after all. “Hmm.” Following Miguel’s voice, she was gaining on the location of his voice before his sudden drop nearby caused her to stop in her tracks. Leaping onto a few branches, she peered around until she spotted the distinctive suit and leapt over to land on the branch beside Miguel, “Hey you alright? Come on spidey, say something!” Melati called, gently shaking Miguel and trying to get him to stay conscious from whatever had happened.
Miguel was in and out of it for awhile. his thoughts had drifted to times of his family and good times that he had with them. He had to split the future and the past together in order to understand how his life worked of being a Spider-Man and it wasn't easy like any super hero job that came with it. As he remained there on the branch he thought at first it was one of his dreams talking to him. "Come on Spidey!" The voice sounded like it would've come from one of his team mates, all of them pretty much had that nickname. But then he heard more of it as he realized that it wasn't a dream at all.
At first as he woke up into the real life part of it he coughed a bit, he felt sore and drained from the efforts that he had taken to get to safety and not to mention to try and find his team mates. "Ugh my head..and back too." Miguel said as he coughed a bit. That was when he looked up noticing that there was someone standing nearby him. It startled him at first as he tried to jump up but it was obvious he was in no state to do that. He felt wobbly and nausious as he stayed in the spot until he felt better and hoped it'd feel better soon
"I'm sorry I mistook you for an enemy but I'm assuming you aren't. Your Clothing reminds me of SHIELD attire." Miguel said noticing that her attire reminded him of that. He sat there for a bit trying to remember what happened, but to be honest it seemed like a blur none of it made sense to him at least not yet anyways. "I go by the name Spider-Man 2099, the spider-Man of the future. I was out here on a mission with the Web Warriors but i can't remember for the life of me why we were out here." Miguel said knowing that was the least of his problems as he hoped he recover at some point or he'd feel like a burden to Melati. He was almost hesitant of taking off his mask being that he was photophobic but he didn't seem to mind too much. "I need to take my mask off real fast I think I have a couple of heavy scratches or bruises on my face. But problem is I am photophobic I don't see well in bright lights." Miguel said wishing he had brought a pair of his special sun glasses.

When Miguel finally responded, it came in the form of several coughs, causing Melati to step back slightly to give him some room. "Okay you're at least conscious." She said to herself, waiting for a response if he had heard her. But she was startled slightly when he jumped, her tail instinctively coiling around the branch when she nearly fell and her claws dug into the thick bark to help her balance once more, sighing in relief when she found it once more. "Hey, take it easy web-head, you're not exactly in the best shape to be moving around a lot."
When he seemed to realize he wasn't in immediate danger, Miguel seemed to relax and so do the young mutate. Moving closer once more, she quickly scanned his form, not finding any serious danger physically which was a good sign. And there was always the possibility that he had a healing factor as well, so there was probably why he didn't show many signs of scratches or tears to the skin. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm exactly an enemy, but I'm not exactly an ally either." Melati admitted to him, rubbing the back of her scaly neck. "Yea I've heard of you, and those Web Warriors. I'm Melati, but I also go by Komodo. You could say I work as a solo act, commandeering tech, gadgets, weapons, the like from organizations you guys probably try to stop." She introduced herself in return. She probably would normally have shook his hand but considering his disoriented state, she wasn't going to press the matter.
Glancing up, Melati figured there was one way to fix that problem. "Sit tight for a second." She uncoiled her tail and jumped upwards, clawing her way up the tree a bit until she came across a branch with leaves growing close together, making the area above her head cool and shady. 'That'll work.' She thought before swiping her claws a few times, tearing the branch free before crawling back down. "Now the light shouldn't hurt." Melati assured him, using her tail to hold up the branch and giving him some cover over his face to prevent the sunlight from blinding him.
Miguel waited patiently as Melati jumped away. She seemed kind enough and not to mention she was apart of SHIELD which made things better, didn't that make them allies to a degree. "Sure i don't think I can go any where this instant." He admitted before she finally moved some branches and that helped out block out the sun. Once she was done he looked rather relieved. "Thanks. Sometimes having photophobia can be a real pain but it does give me good vision when it works." Miguel said with a sigh. "I'm starting to feel a bit better now I have a healing factor." He said as he stretched his arms out a bit glad to see that he didn't need a hospital or something. Brandi would probably never forgive him for something like this.
"I guess I should explain why my team and I were here. We were supposed to meet in Africa where the Black panther lives, Wakanda. I guess he needed some kind of help there. I'm sure the others have since regrouped and made it there." Miguel said not having a clue if they got his messages or were worried that they were missing one of the spiders. They may have noticed it. "I hope they didn't forget me or anything." He said with a sigh. He was going to worry about that later, the first thing was to make sure he was alright.
Miguel tried standing again this time he was a little shaky but he grabbed a hold of one of the branches on one of the trees. That seemed better. That was when he really saw Melati clearly as he realized she had green skin. "Wait a minute you have green skin and scales? Are you a lizard?" he asked in surprise. "Sorry I guess that just came as a surprise." He admitted he was sure that she got like this all the time. "I guess the better thing is I'm glad you found me that's something I appreciate." He said with a sigh as he felt his sore arms. It would probably be awhile before he could travel again.
“I may not be the most kind person out there or a team player, but not going to leave an injured person helpless. That would be a little too heartless.” Melati told him, keeping the branch up just in case. But when he began to move she quickly grabbed his shoulder. She could see he was still unsteady and recovering, no doubt the crash having been a rough one. Honestly, him and his team were probably fortunate they had superhuman abilities otherwise survival would have been much lower.
His sudden observation of her appearance though made her chuckle, bemused by a folk reaction she got. “Brilliant observation Einstein, my code name should have given that away.” She told him, finally throwing the branch away that was presently held by her tail. “Yes, I am a lizard. Technically, I am a less feral Lizard. I took the same formula Curt Conners once did but I modified it of it my own DNA, special reasons really.” Melati explained, almost casual about the subject. Unlike most of those who got such powers, she had been willing to accept the side effects for trying to fix her amputated legs and Curt had been kind enough to tutor her in her powers.
But she glanced back towards where the crash had occurred and checked its trajectory. It appeared he still had a while to go before he would get to the legendary Wakanda. But Melati turned back to Miguel, seeing he wasn’t in great shape still. “Right, and you intend to travel alone in that state? You’ll be eaten by other non-friendly animals before that happened.” She said pointedly, crossing her arms with a raised scaly brow. Yea, like he could seriously get through the jungle alone.
She glanced at the time. There was still a while yet before the meeting for her target would occur so she could afford a small detour. “Alright web slinger, tell you what, I’m going to help you until you recover more. Healing factor or not you need more time to completely recover so I’ll be your support until we find one of your friends or reach the city.” She said firmly, giving no room for him to say otherwise.
"I guess I have had worse ideas." Miguel said half mumbling to himself as he heard her say that it wasn't the best idea to travel alone. He didn't want to admit it but perhaps she was right in more ways than one. Miguel probably needed a couple of days of rest to get the toxins and other things out of his system but he knew hanging around in a jungle wasn't exactly ideal. There was who knows what in the jungles and there were many stories about others being lost in the jungles and dying there, but Miguel figured they could make it. Between Melati's lizard form and his spider form they would normally be able to make it.
One thing did occur to him, weren't lizards one of the enemies to spiders? He wasn't going to dwell on that thought, spiders had many enemies towards birds, flying insects, and other creatures that would be willing to eat them, this would be no different. Melati said she would help him and his spidey sense never went off. So he was trusting that too.
"Fine I trust you." He said as he heard her talk about being genetically enhanced with a formula, sounded a little bit familiar with the projects that he had with alchem x in his time. "I suppose you might not know this but where I was living before this mess I was a chemist and worked with animal and human dna. I suppose that you can put two and two together, an accident happened so I became Spider-Man there too." Miguel said. "And as you guessed my name is Spider-Man." He said dropping the 2099 part since he didn't want her to freak her out that he was from the future. How rare was that exactly?
"Hm well didn't they say in survival shield training that we need to look for any form of stable life? Like a river, or moss growing on a side of a tree?" Miguel asked noticing that his comunications watch was pretty much fried as he dropped it in disappointment and grumbled a bit. "I suppose I should thank you too for at least not leaving me behind. Most spiders are used to working alone, but the Web Warriors made us all come together." He admitted knowing that might've been a shocker, or at least might not have been the way things were going. Heck if Melati said that there was a two ton dragon standing next to them he might've believed her.
"You spiders really know how to get yourselves into trouble huh? If its not accidents causing you powers its something else." Melati commented, not being the first time she had heard of someone getting their powers from experimentation and lab accidents. But she didn't immediately respond in kind about how hers came to be. She instead turned, listening closely as she could since the one thing she was not granted as a version of the lizard was keen senses of some kind. So, she focused on any faint echoes given off by the closely growing trees. And finally, she heard it.
"Sounds like there is a river or creek to the left of us. It's a little ways off but its a start." She told him, beginning to climb and move along the trees since the trees here in Wakanda not only grew close enough to use them as a sort of high rise walkway, they were strong and thick, which means their weight would be supported quite nicely. But she kept to a pace Miguel could easily follow. It was only when they had begun their trek towards the flowing water did she speak once more, "Truth be told, my powers weren't an accident. I intentionally took the Lizard formula, perfected it enough it not only made me this way and to keep my intelligence, but it also allowed me to use my legs fully again." She explained.
Grabbing onto a vine, Melati tested the strength before she swung to a branch that was further away, trying to save some strength before sending it back towards Miguel. "I lost my legs you see, in an accident. They had to be amputated due to how bad the damage was. So, I've been studying biochemistry to better understand the mechanics of cells, organisms, and stuff like that." She told him, swaying her tail back and forth. "I suppose you could say we're in a similar field really."
"A lot of us have had accidents with spiders you'd be surprised at how different our stories are." Miguel said with a shrug not minding how different and how similar they were. It was just something that was meant to be. But he nodded in agreement as he heard Melati speak up about herself. "I'm sorry to hear that about your legs. I can see why you took on the forum of a lizard. They have incredible regenerative properties." Miguel pointed out but he was sure he knew that already being a lizard herself. "I would've never known someone would be in a similar situation of my own. I had an accident in the lab that I worked at where the spider dna was comebined with my own. I was property of the person who had the DNA and couldn't leave so easily. So I did work for him, and I hated it." Miguel said with a sigh as he remembered those days of being treated like a slave.
The two were swinging across the vines as Miguel didn't seem to mind it that much, it felt like an obstacle course on a SHIELD training mission. They were done so frequently he could probably do it in his sleep. But at least this time he didn't have someone barking orders at him which would be even more tense in the situation. As Miguel walked along one tree he did notice how sore he was starting to feel it and it was quite painful. He did his best to try and ignore the pain. However something much worse than the pain hit him like a ton of bricks as the spidey sense went off. "Uh oh the spidey sense just went off Melati stay on-" Before he could finish what he was saying something red rushed passed him.
He was surprised as he realized who this mysterious figure might be at this point. Before he could react something knocked him back against the tree truck with incredible force. As Miguel opened up his eyes he was surprised to see that it was someone familiar there. "Scarlet Spider!? " Miguel asked as he realized that he was being held down by the older super hero as his stingers were pointed right at his throat. "Most of the time I'm really happy to see you but this time not so much." He said as something seemed horribly off about the red suited super hero as he was struggling to make sense of things as he grunted and gritted his teeth. Though little known to the other two he was being blinded by fear pheromones that he had suffered a short time ago and it was blinding him. "Melati something's wrong with Scarlet Spider, I know him as a good guy, but as of now things aren't right with him." He said as he tried to move but Scarlet Spider wouldn't budge.
Ooc: i was hoping to make things more interesting I flung Scarlet Spider in so the other Web Warriors could join in since they're in this too or mentioned.
"I suppose you could call becoming a lizard an accident. It was meant to only regenerate my legs but instead it did that and completely changed me. Although, I can still return to my human state, I just prefer not to." Melati explained to him. So perhaps her becoming a lizard mutate was accidental, but she had been well aware of what could have happened. The lizard formula had changed Curt Connors after all, and he had even warned her of what could happen. But, Melati remained convinced she had done the right thing, and that what she did had put her in a position to do some good in the world her own way.
But when Miguel mentioned his spider senses were going off, Melati came to a stop. She didn't even get the chance to ask what he had been sensing when she saw with shock as Scarlet Spider slammed his fellow spider against the tree trunk, which wasn't something she was expecting. Sure, the spider heroes had their problems, but that was to be expected from different people working on a team and having different personalities. But with how Scarlet Spider was reacting she wondered if something had triggered him to act so violently and recklessly against his own teammate. "Something wrong? That's an understatement." She responded, grabbing a vine that was close to her and looking between where she stood and where the two spiders were.
Gripping the vine, the lizard mutate jumped from her own branch and swung towards them, "Sorry bug boy, but for your own good!" Melati growled as she threw herself from the vine, using her momentum to go flying and tackling Scarlet Spider off Miguel. The force of the tackle was enough to send them both off the branch and crashing to the ground, but Melati had a grip on Kaine, trying to put him in an arm lock and hold him in place, "Gotcha now spidey! Now calm yourself before you make me do more than restrain you!" Melati snarled at him.
"Let me go!" THe objection was no doubt unheard by the time Melati grabbed onto him Kaine felt his body slam against the ground as she had him in a headlock. Kaine was probably more of one of the rough ones and rugged Spiders that Melati had but the way the head lock she had on him he was likely not going to go anywhere. "I said let me-" He was cut off as Miguel managed to catch up to them after catching his breath from the shock, he swung down from one of the vines like how a monkey might travel before arriving beside Kaine who was obviously at Melati's hold. He was resisting it with all his strength refusing to give in as some sort of demon was plaguing his mind.
"He's going to hate me for doing this but he needs to see what's going on." Miguel said as he came over and started to take Kaine's mask off revealing the older man's face along with the scars on his right as he saw with his good eye at that point what was going on. Then the blondish brown hair appeared as his face was exposed, but it was only the three of them at that point. "Kaine it's me, Miguel and a SHIELD agent. We aren't going to hurt you but we have no choice." Miguel said trying to reason with him. He could see that Kaine was finally loosening himself as he could see better from the mask he looked worn and tired but it was Kaine there as he was breathing heavily.
"Miguel? Why the heck am I doing in the jungle? And you can tell your friend to let me go now it's really me." Kaine said as he looked rather unamused as he seemed to have the pheromones wore off slowly.
"I don't believe it's you." Miguel said shaking his head as Kaine rolled his eyes. "Fine punk happy?" He asked using one of his favorite trade mark words as Miguel handed him back towards his mask so he could keep it.
"Kaine's back Melati you can release him now he sounds just like his old self." Miguel said as Kaine rubbed his head where there was a bad bruise of something from earlier like he hit his head on something. Whatever hit him left a sharp injury there that might take time for his healing factor to take care of it. "All I know is I hit my head after I landed my plane we got separated didn't we?" Kaine asked as Miguel nodded. Obviously there were secrets in the jungle someone was messing with the web warriors while they were out anad they were missing other members. "I'm sorry for the trouble I caused you two...Let's just say I was seeing old demons." He said with a sigh but at least he apologized.
Melati refused to release Kaine so easily despite his strength. She could easily hold him back just as much as he could struggle thanks to her own physiology, kind of ironic really. But, she was keeping Kaine restrained for his own safety and hers and Miguel's, just in case there really was something serious going on and no one ended up seriously injured. Even Melati could see how serious either of them could end up being, with her claws and fangs, Miguel's claws, and Kaine's stingers. So, she was taking the best course of action she saw at the time.
She waited for Miguel to confirm for sure Kaine was coming around, feeling bad his mask had to be removed. Not that it really made much of a difference for her. She had no need to make use of their true identities; they were not her enemies at the present moment and had not been intentionally hostile. Still, she watched Kaine closely, waiting for the signs that he would still resist and attack. But, the tension in his body relaxed and gradually he no longer sounded like someone trying to take out his own teammate due to who knows what. "Good. I had to be certain, especially with those stingers you got." Melati told him, finally releasing her grip rolling away to her feet once more.
Getting back to her feet, Melati brushed any dirt off herself before glancing around the jungle at first, just scanning the area for the possibility of someone else coming around. Sometimes, you just never knew what you might encounter in Wakanda. "Its Wakanda, you never know what something will do to you here unless you know the area. It's uncharted in the outside world, but its people...they would make us look like bumbling children." Melati pointed out as she finally turned her attentions back to the two spiders.

"You don't have to tell me twice. We're in Black Panther's territory if anyone knows this place it's him." Miguel said as he sighed giving Kaine his mask back if he hadn't already as Kaine gladly accepted it and put his mask back on. He probably could've survived without it since he trusted Miguel but he didn't know exactly how Melati felt, but she was an ally since she was in SHIELD after all.
"So why were the web warriors all the way out here? I know I was supposed to meet with you guys but that impact knocked me out cold." Miguel asked wondering if Kaine had any clear answers to what was going on as he rested against the tree trunk for a bit as his head still pounded for awhile still. "Hm we were out to deliver some vibranium that was stolen from the Panther some time ago and SHIELD had it in custody. I don't know if it is still a law under Black Panther but he has ordered all vibranium back to Wakanda if it is found in the wrong hands." Kaine said. "I can only assume we were shot down or knocked out of the sky because of that metal." Kaine said with a sigh of annoyance.
"We better get going to Wakanda I do remember what direction we were supposed to travel from the flight panel." Miguel said hoping it wouldn't take them days to get there. They may be super powered heroes but they still needed water and food just like any other normal humans. "Are you guys up for some travel again?" Miguel asked as he looked back at the other two wondering if they were ready. "I'm ready my head is still pounding a little but I should be fine in a few hours." Kaine said knowing it had dulled quite a bit. He couldn't help but wonder who he had stumbled across earlier, it was all a blur and someone had laid out a trap for him and he didn't expect it one bit, and that was going to annoy him for some time.
While the two talked, Melati took it upon herself to carefully move along the tree roots, scanning the area and sniffing about for a bit, trying to be certain nothing was out of the ordinary. But so far, she didn't find anything. Well, nothing familiar or that screamed for her to be on her guard more than she already was. But she also wasn't entirely thrilled to be waiting on the two spiders. One was one thing, two was another.
The lizard-human hybrid came to a stop, projecting a clock from her gauntlet to see what the time was, finding she was already falling behind on her schedule. The convoy she was here to meet and take out would be meeting within hours, maybe by the start of tomorrow morning. 'At this rate, I won't e getting far nor remotely close to the area. Not with these two somewhat crippled and slowing me down.' She thought with slight irritation but forcing herself to keep her calm otherwise the real reason she was here could be compromised by the likes of a couple of SHIELD agents. So, when she heard Kaine say they should probably move she immediately perked up.
"I agree. If we stay here any longer whoever was after that cargo could very well be heading this way." Melati agreed as she finally looked back at them. "Try to push through the pain Miguel, you two have somewhere to be and so do I." Melati however did not seem to quick to explain the true reason she was even going through the Wakandan jungle, merely leaping onto the nearest tree to climb to the thickest branches and beginning to move across the trees, an easier way to avoid running into trouble right away.

"I'll be fine both of us have healing factors." Miguel said knowing Melati was right on that last one. She seemed to be focused on something, late for something important? Although they were both allies, Miguel couldn't help but wonder if Melati was here for something else and he had his suspicions whatever they were. She wasn't about to tell them. "Come on Scarlet we better get moving then." Miguel said as Kaine nodded. The two headed forward despite their aches and pains things seemed to be alright, in fact as they moved Miguel felt a little bit better. They climbed their way through the jungle almost like they would've through New York but this wasn't New York, was it?
"You know what is odd, we haven't come across any Wakandan warriors. You would've thought T'challa would've brought them out to servey the area to make sure there aren't any suspicious people wandering around." Kaine said as they walked. "Um we ARE suspicious to them even if we work as SHIELD. I doubt Wakanda would welcome us so easily since we're out siders." Miguel said wondering if Kaine was worried with other things. Miguel knew that he had a family back home and this had probably been one of the few times that Kaine had been far away from them for a long period of time. Katherine was probably worried about him. But if anyone needed to stay alive it was him, he had three kids to support back home.
They were traveling for some time as Kaine felt his spidey sense go off, he was trying to figure out where it was coming from as it was above them as a loud whirr could be heard of a spear like object. "Duck!" he called out as he moved out of the way. A sharp spear impaled itself into a nearby tree as it was made of the Wakandan metal that they were so familiar with by now as Kaine jumped onto the spear and yanked it out with his strength as a few warriors could be seen down below like they were ready to attack. "Can this day get any worse?" Kaine thought out loud as that shot nearly missed his head.
