Chasing your Past (Open/Katherine)

[Kaine Riley-Parker]

His mouth was a bit dry from not getting a a drink, this evening had been a long one and couldn't stop to rest any time soon. The super hero and once marked vigilante was standing on the roof as rain came pouring down on him. His heart was almost in rythm with the rain as it danced around him and on his uniform. SHIELD had sent him two coordinates to follow while he was out that night and it was for personal reasons too. As he sent a bit of web fluid forward, he slowly made his way down onto the deserted side walk as he found himself to what he thought to be alone. "It's now or never." He said softly as Scarlet Spider made his way over towards what looked like a broken wall.

He began to feel along the wall with a black and red gloved hand before he noticed something off about it. He pressed his hand against it as one of the bricks felt like it was dislodged like someone had moved it. He took it out finding a spot that looked like a security pad. Taking his hand he pressed it against it. "Welcome back Scarlet Spider." The voice spoke as it read his palm print after he took off his glove. The gate opened to his surprise and lead down to a set of stairs. It wasn't long before he found himself in the room that was filled with lab items and objects that were a bit...familiar to him.

"I remember this place." He said as he slammed his fist against the table in frustration. "This was where I was born." He said looking around the lab finding some large augmented tubes there where the infants would've been put. "And then left out like the trash." He said remembering that several years ago this had happened. It had been two decades, and no one had been here since.

Kaine didn't exactly where to begin on searching for information, he took out two of the doors and began to look through some of the information it was real science stuff, probably a doctor could understand it. But he couldn't for the most part. As he put them back on the desk something slipped out of one of the pages and it looked like the width of a small picture. Kaine picked it up with a gloved black hand noticing that there was a woman in it with a child. The infant had blonde hair like Kaine and brown eyes, was it possible that this was Mrs Riley. He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure it out, but he wondered if he needed a second opinion if Katherine were to come that was fine by him. If not that was ok too. To be honest, he was a bit scared of what he might find here.

Katherine was behind him walking behind him she was surprised when she was asked by him to come with him on this journey.She followed quietly behind him as he went though.She followed him in the lab but was little bit distracted by a tank with green liquid with two humanoid kids inside with cat ears hugging against each other with the tails around each waist.The boys both looked like with the blonde hair and their ears rippling through the water.She was kind of stunned at this and kind of angry at this and she placed her hand on the glass " Kaine come here and see this "She didn't know how to open the Tanks as she looked towards him and waited for him to come over to area.

She didn't even read the papers just yet since Kaine wanted to find something about his past but these kids were abandoned here for god knows how long.She didn't want try to break the glass in fear of hurting them even if she could but they found something just as important right now.She wasn't too good with this kind of tech if she did something and messed up it would be very bad.

Kaine looked up as he heard Katherine talk about about him coming over there. He put the papers down to come in and investigate what she had found. Behind his mask he was stunned to see that there was a tank that was working here with two infants in side it. "I see why you called me over here, Katherine." Kaine said. "If is is anything like my time here, it'll be nothing good for them." Kaine said as he looked up at the two kids as they were resting peacefully a bit in the tube.

"Hm I wonder." He said. Knowing that his stingers would probably cause it to electricute not only himself but also the kids in side as well. That wouldn't end well on either accounts. There was a button on the front of the tank as he pressed it. The liquid started to drain out of the tank as Kaine managed to open the glass with one of his stingers and grabbed a hold of the kids. "Katherine I've got a funny feeling about this. These kids have our DNA just by looking at them." he said as he held them in his arms but was careful not to hurt them with his stinger. He put it back before he could hurt or injure them. They sure were tiny it was hard to believe at one point that they were once that size. "How about we go back to my apartment and figure this out?" He asked already not liking the looks of this place. It was creepy and eerie being back in this place after he escaped it so long ago.

Katherine looking towards him seriously and nodded little bit " yes let's go before we are noticed " she took one of the children into her arms and placed him into her jacket.She didn't care how these people got her Dna she was worried about the children right now.She then turned to get out of here being carefully not to drop him.She was very angry right now and wasn't thinking about much expect keep this child safe and hopped that Kaine was right behind her with the other kid. Katherine has her first motherly instinct and wanted make sure they as her pupils dilated showing mostly yellow if anyone try to take the kid from her asides Kaine she will hurt them really bad.

She was keeping pace quickly while holding the child against her chest.If she manages to get outside she waited for him to come behind her she was trying what do right now.She stared towards him as the kid hasn't woken up just yet by has his little hand around her finger her ears were back and she looked down to the inside as her shirt as the kid gripped and she couldn't help but just smile just softly " don't Worry I will keep you safe " She was concerned because she brought her bike and carrying a kid on doesn't seem too safe.

Kaine held onto the second child in one arm but he put it in a web netting to make sure it wouldn't fall if he was forced to do some acrobatic skills right away. He soon headed out but took the picture that he had found from the notes since he felt it was important. "My kid is safe I webbed him so he wouldn't fall." Kaine said as he looked back at her through his black and red costume. It wasn't long before he noticed how she was acting very motherly which was good for them, the kids could use some parents.

...Wait a minute were they parents now? It felt so odd to Kaine. he had zero experience with kids in fact he was probably hardly an adult himself now that he was about 29 years old. He sighed seeing that they had no choice, he didn't want them left in as the same fate that he almost had.

"Alright Katherine let's go." He said as he began to lead the way back towards his apartment. The apartment would serve as a temporary home for the two, or even a permanent home. But he wasn't prepared, he didn't have much food for babies or even a room for them. Maybe they could stay in the guest room while he and Katherine slept in the main one. he was worried though he didn't show it. It wasn't long before he climbed on the buildings and it wasn't long before he found his apartment window and opened it carefully. "Here we are, home sweet home." he said sounding tired from the long run and eventful day but he waited patiently for Katherine to show up.

Katherine came in right behind him holding the baby to her chest and then looked towards him. she didn't know what she could say and and finally got a look at the kids they had very long hair.She looked towards Kaine " do you have any scissors Kaine ....." She said as she sits the sleeping boy on the couch wrapped in her jacket.She knew what important now is make sure the kids are rested knowing they probably had a very time in that lab and the worst thing were left for dead.

She never had to deal with children this young before but she will have Kaine's help hopefully.She looked towards the child and sighed little it and then looked towards Kaine kind of sad at moment and speaks" what kind people of would leave babies like this ...Kaine just gets me so upset " She knew Oscorp weren't exactly but now she believes they as much as monster as her family was.She is thinking in her mind that she will try to give these kids a better life better then she and Kaine had.

"Yes I do." Kaine said as he placed the child not far from Katherine on the bed as he seemed to be fine sleeping in the web like basket that Kaine had made earlier for him. He began to search some of the drawers in the kitchen before he found some scissors. "I found some here you go." He said handing her them carefully with the handle facing toward her. "But I believe they were criminals. They left me to die and they'd probably do the same to the kids. That makes me angry." Kaine said as he felt his fist starting to clench again as he sat on the other end of the couch with the second kid between the two of them.

"But we can give them a better life, Katherine we both managed to do it for ourselves and we can do it for them now." Kaine said as he took the mask part off of his costume showing his face. It was clear he was fuming with anger even though he hid it behind the mask too. If he was this angry he would've been out in the training area on SHIELD to try and get rid of it. "They tortured me there and gave me the scar on my face too. I'll always remember what they did." He said slamming his fist against the couch but he was surprised that it didn't wake the second kid up. "We should name them if anything." he said as he tried to think of one. They'd have his last name, Riley that was a good idea, or if Katherine wanted hers to be apart of it, that was fine too on his part.

Kathrine decided it was not a good idea to wake the kids up just to cut their hair at moment which was going to be hard later. She then smiled and runs her hand through one of their long hair.She was kind of both sad and angry that they were left in the cold lab all alone. She then looked towards Kaine and the anger on his face and went on to him as he spoke what Oscorp did to him. She placed her hand on his shoulder and smooth his shoulder to comfort him the best she could she had a horrible life as well and she could feel his pain" We can give them a better life and they will never know the pain we went though"

When he had made the comment that they should name she just nodded towards him and tried to think of two good names this and it was kind of one the spot kind of thing. She then knew and it was good thing that they took his last name since it would be a good thing" how about we name The boys K names hmm how does Kaiden and Kade sound too you ?"She twitched her tail little bit she always wanted children and she hopped that she would make a good mother to these kids even she was still trying to learn about herself as well.

The comfort certainly helped him as he looked back at Katherine. She was able to soothe him a bit but he knew there were other ways of taking out his anger if it had to come to that. Maybe if he let her, Katherine would be able to comfort him a bit more if she wanted too also. "Yes you're right." He agreed, living at Oscorp would be no place for two children, they'd be turned into monsters. "We can give them a better life, in fact they can stay in my apartment, no one will bother them here." Kaine offered.

Kaine managed to smile a bit as he heard Katherine suggest the names, "I like the names, Katherine. They suit them. Kaiden and Kaine Riley if they want to keep their fallen grandparent's name." Kaine offered knowing they wouldn't be complete without a name. Though if they wanted Katherine's last name Yiosa that would work too. "Well i'm going to go change into some regular clothing, I think I can hang up the Scarlet Spider suit for the night, you can change too if you want." He offered if Katherine had any other clothes with him in the apartment as he quickly went and rechanged into some better suiting clothing. It felt odd to be in his suit around his apartment, that is if he was coming and going."Ok I'm back." he added as he sat down on the couch. He noticed one of the boys yawned as he started to wake up. "I think the one named Kaiden is waking up." He said with a soft smile.

Katherine had to agree that it was for the best if the children stayed at his place since she lived at Xavier school and wasn't sure how she would explain this to everyone because this is kind of technically kidnapping.She saw Kaiden was awake and then smiled little bit and then looked towards him and speaks to him "hello little one my name is Katherine and This man here is Kaine..we rescued you and your brother from a very bad man " She figured that she would start with talking to little child.She then looked towards Kaine as he offered her to change and she just shook her head little bit she wasn't sure if this was the time for her change her clothing at moment.

She thinks for moment thinking the kids might need clothes at moment and then looked towards Kaine " I think could get Kade and Kadien some clothes first "The one named Kade still sleeping there peacefully he doesn't even know he was just saved from a live of torment and pain.Katherine was planning ways she was going spoil the boys with her despite having her teaching salary this was going be a great adventure for the both of them she really thinks it was about time that she actually moved in but she didn't want to ask about that unless he offered her to stay with him.

"I'm sure I have a couple of spare clothing around in my closet, I can take a few out of there." Kaine offered as he looked back at the kids. They might be a bit big on the kids but it was better than nothing. "I'll be right back, Katherine." He said as he quickly went through his closet and began to search through some clothing that didn't fit him anymore. Once he found a few things he brought it over to them. "I have some close in this pile we can try it on since they might be cold without any." Kaine offeered as he looked at the boy who didn't really seem to understand what was going on. But he seemed to understand that the two of them were nice and could be trusted. "Kat...kat." Kaiden tried to say but it was a bit hard for him.

"Looks like he's trying to say your name, Katherine." Kaine said with a soft chuckle. Then an idea struck him that he had been thinking about for some time. He knew Katherine lived in the Xavier Mansion, but he knew there would be points where the two would be seperated with their work with the X-Men and his with the web warriors. "Katherine how would you like to move in with me when you're ready?" He asked. "I have plenty of space for four people, but when I get enough money we could easily get a bigger apartment when it's needed." Kaine offered as he wondered how Katherine would think of this. They'd be able to see a lot more of each other, but he also hoped she wouldn't be bothered by this all that much. Kaine often left on many days to go to SHIELD but this time he'd make sure he came back to see how the kids were doing here, or at least call her. He would be a better father since he didn't really remember much of his own anyways.
